Deadline for Earning Companion Pass

I apologize in advance, but can someone please confirm the deadlines for earning status?

As I understand it, Companion Pass is extended through 6/30/2021, but does that mean we have until 6/30/2021 to earn the companion pass for the remainder of 2021 and for the entire year 2022? Or do we still have until 12/31/2020 to earn for the remainder of 2021?

Additionally, I know A-List Preferred was extended until the end of 2021, so I assume we have the entire year of 2021 to earn A-List Preferred for 2022?  Finally, I also assume that the 100% earning bonus will still apply for 2021 even if we don't hit the A-List Preferred points hurdle by 12/31/2020?

I've searched but I never found anything that clearly outlines how this is working.  Thanks in advance!

Hello.

What it means is that a companion pass  that was earned in 2019 that would normally run thru EOY 2020 will now run thru 6/30/21. You would need to earn enough points by YE 2020 to have the pass  for the last half of 2021, and would have to earn enough points in 2021 to have a pass in 2022. It might just be easier to get enough points in 1H21 to get a pass for the balance of 2021 and all of 2022.

That is correct.

Finally, I also assume that the 100% earning bonus will still apply for 2021 even if we don't hit the A-List Preferred points hurdle by 12/31/2020?

If A-List Preferred is being extended thru EOY 2021, then yor 100% earning bonus is also being extended thru EOY 2021.

I've searched but I never found anything that clearly outlines how this is working.  Thanks in advance!

So it is not worth all the effort and spending just to gain companion pass for July 2020-Dec 2020

Nothing is expiring or extended half way through 2020 so perhaps you meant 2021?  If you currently have CP for 2020 that was extended until June 30, 2021 then you would be better off waiting until Jan 1, 2021 to begin earning CP.  If you can earn it before June 30, 2021 you would then get the remainder of 2021 and all of 2022.  If it took you past June 30, 2021 to earn CP, but you completed before Dec 31, 2021 you would not have CP for that gap of time but would still earn it for the remainder of 2021 and all of 2022.

I see there's a new 65k point credit card offer as of today, which is awfully enticing.  Trying to figure out whether I should take advantage of it for extending my CP status.  I likely won't qualify past June 2021 without a credit card boost but if I apply for this card now, it will only help get status for the rest of 2021, correct?  If I wait for a (likely less generous) credit card offer in early 2021, than the points from that will help qualify both for the rest of 2021 and 2022, correct?  Thanks

Whenever you earn CP you have it for the remainder of the year you earn it and for the entire next year. Also, it's always the calendar year, Jan 1 - Dec 31

No guarantees about what I am about to say --

There have always been lots of credit card boosts. I would not expect that to change. Since the thresh hold to qualify for P went up to 150,000 points, there have been several 65,000 point boosts.

That being said, your two options are

1) Qualify this year and only get a 6 month extension to your existing CP status ..or.

2) Try to qualify next ear and get the balance of next year and all of 2022 as a CP holder.

I've been advising people to pick option 2
