How to get RR points for my ticket booked by someone else

My ticket has been booked by someone else and I’m also traveling with multiple people. 
I have the confirmation number of the reservation. Can I add my RR number to my name on the reservation and expect to get points? Otherwise how do I get points for my travel?

Yes, you can add your RR number and earn RR points. Or you can do the same retroactively after you have completed the  trip

You can go to "Manage Reservations" and look on the right hand side and there is a link to add your RR number
