Solution

The way you do that is to first cancel your flight. If you do so with 24 hours of purchase you'll get a refund (assuming you did not use travel funds or a gift card to buy the ticket). If after 24 hours, you'll get a travel fund that expires on 9/7/22.

 

Then you buy a new ticket with points.
