Pay off credit card prior to billing cycle - Miles?

If I make purchases and pay them off before the billing cycle do I still receive the miles?  Or do I need to carry over the balance? TY

You still receive your miles. Your miles are based on purchases, not balance.

Agree, however you won't actually get your miles until the issuance of the statement upon which the purchases appear.

When I got my SW card, which offers 60,000 miles after I spend $3000, I was able to get my points on the day the first statement posted.  Had I waited until after the closing date and statement date, then I would have had to await another month to get the miles.  Currently we are not flying, so I am using my new batch of miles to buy $600.00 worth of on-sale movies and DVDs . . . which is great.
