Hello. 
last year my boyfriend purchased a flight for a friend. She had to cancel the flight, and is no longer going to come. How can we get his money back or a credit flight back to him? It was just like throwing $250 to someone else and it’s going to be wasted.

Sorry, the way Southwest deals with this type of situation is "the ticket holder always gets the travel fund" regardless of who bought the ticket.

You could remind your friend that she now owns  a travel fund (she may  not know) and see if she'll send you some cash.
