Why do the buying points offers vary?

We have a community who talks about Southwest and one question that came up lately is why do different people get different offers to buy Southwest points. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I don't believe what you say is accurate.

Everyone who buys 10,000 points at the same approximate time pays $X/point

while

Everyone who buys 40,000 points at the same approximate time pays $Y/point

Southwest does offer "sale" prices at varying times. Everyone who buys the same number of points during a sale pays the same price.

Also, the more points you buy, the lower the cost/point,  More points = bigger discount.

That being said, buying points is normally NOT a good deal.

When we all compare our offers, we have different ones right now.

1) as I said earlier SW does offer points "sales" occasionally

2) The more points you buy, the bigger the discount. It's like going to the grocery to buy soda.

A six pack costs less/can than buying six singles does.

3)Using your example, EVERYONE who buys 5000 points pays the same price .and

EVERYONE that buys 10,000 points pays the same price etc, etc, etc

It's not like SW is giving different deals to different people. It's not

DO NOT BUY POINTS!!!

It is never cheaper to buy the points for flights than it is to pay cash for the flight, regardless of the "sale" on points purchases.

If you really need/want points earn then via other means such as Rapid Rewards Shopping, Dining, Hotels, or rental cars.  All can be utilized for purchases you were planning on making anyway so you aren't just throwing money away.

This sale literally started yesterday, so your earlier screen shot did not reflect this current sale, but if you look now, it should. I just checked it myself, and the Buy Points page reflects this sale with these discounts. The sale is valid from 4/19 - 5/20/2022.

Also, one thing to remember with points - using points to redeem a flight does not count towards your # of flights for the year to retain A-List (and above) status, so something to keep in mind. I've purchased points in the past to top off my points and get a very-close-to-free flight, but considering I want to keep A-List year after year, I'm letting my points build up and I'm trying not to use them.

I literally logged into my account and pulled that screenshot from there this morning under "buy points" but I didn't go further in the process. Here's further in JUST NOW. Is this what you all are seeing also? It doesn't line up with what I put that our community stated so that is what I am trying to figure out.
