Lots of Wanna Get Away Fares are a lot higher than they were a month ago. It started 7-10 days ago.
It seems it applies to flights thru about 7/7/20. After that, fares get reasonable again - at least for the routes I fly.
Airlines charge what they think they can and fill seats. If seas don't get sold, prices will drop.

Supply and demand. Airlines have cut supply so much and people are very slowly starting to purchase tickets again so prices are going to go up. Thankfully, with Southwest if you buy now and prices go back down you can reprice the fare and get credit for the difference. Just check the price often, as you saw, prices can change rapidly.

All airlines are doing it.
The cheapest United flight a month ago from Dallas to Chicago (I fly the route a lot) was the Ultra discount at $33. (no seat selection, no refund, no change, pay for carry on bag, pay for checked bag)
Today the same ultra discount fare is $168 for as far in the future as you can see.
