Advice to people on hold with Southwest --- HANG UP!!!~

Wait times are awful, and the call back system is hit or miss at best when things are crazy.

 

There are much better, less frustrating ways to reach the airline in a more timely fashion

 

The Southwest cell app has a chat function - try it.

 

You can change or cancel flights yourself via southwest.com

 

If that doesn't work try twitter, facebook  or e-mail. Details on how to do that are  obtained by clicking on "Contact us" below. Once on that page scroll to the bottom right of the page to the words "connect with us" to find twitter and facebook links.

 

Finally, if you are trying to change or cancel  a flight that is far in the future, you might want to wait a while until the craziness subsides a bit.

If your flight is not in the next couple of days, do not call now, do not do anything now, wait and call later.

Delta is telling it's customers the very same thing "To help address customers with immediate travel needs, we are asking those who do not have travel in the next 72 hours to wait and contact us closer to your trip."

Southwest posted a travel advisory on the website now telling people to wait to call if the flight is more than a few days away because of the high call volume.

Due to a bunch of schedule changes hold times on the phone are very long right now it's best to use Twitter or the chat feature in the app or you can change your flight on the website or app.

(Time for another bump.)

 

Southwest recently made massive changes to its schedule and as a result is suffering incredibly long hold times for telephone customer service.

 

If you're able to make your flight changes online do so. If you're unable to, try using the chat function in the Southwest app or reaching out via direct message on Twitter or Facebook.
