I'm booking for my family member and I love the fact that southwest has fare sales and usually the fare drops and they honor it (if you call in). Would the reduction in points go back to my account or do they get reassigned to the family member I purchased them for? I did a search for this subject but came up empty...
Points are returned back to the account they originally came from. BTW, you don't need to call in for a price reduction, you can do it yourself online. Use the change flight function.

One further comment. Because it is a points flight it has to be changed in your RR account using the confirmation number and the passenger name. The flight will be viewable in the passenger's RR account, but will not be changeable there.
