I am anticipating using the Companion Pass - earned with a new SW Chase card.
1. Can I book a trip using points for my fare and my husband's fare using the Companion Pass?
2. How do I book a CP fare?
TIA

Yes, book the companion pass holder's flight however you want. Then, find the trip in the pass holder's account and you'll see an add companion link on each trip. It's that simple.

Make sure you have designated your companion in your RR account in advance, (if your companion has their own RR# make sure to include that when you designate the companion.)
That way the the trip will populate in their account automatically, it makes it easier to check and board etc...

You must book your flight prior to booking your designated Companion's flight. After booking your flight, visit the My Trips section of your account. Find your flight in the Upcoming section and click on Add Companion link. Click Continue to proceed to the purchase screen and review your Companion information.
