Companion Pass: changing name

I have a Companion Pass (CP) and have not made a name change yet for 2022. My DAUGHTER is my companion on a booked flight in Nov 22.  Can I today change companion name to my FRIEND; book a flight for me and friend in Jan 23; and THEN change name back to daughter for the Nov 22 flite?  In other words, do I have to WAIT until Nov 22 flite has been taken, to change name to friend and book a Jan 23 flite with her??

Solution

You need to wait until trips booked with companion A are complete before changing the companion to companion B.

You can book your own ticket for all flights and just add the companion later after you change the name of the companion.

Yep! If you are nervous about anything for January, book the future companion on your own points as a plceholder then you'll have a spot for them even if something goes haywire.

If things work as expected then you can get your points back into your account when you cancel that booking.
