I want to change my flight to a later date. I entered my confirmation code and name. Each time I try, I get a message "sorry, we found some errors", and cannot proceed. I am wondering if this is because I have a reservation for my dog in the cabin? Which means I have to call??

Did you use travel funds to buy your ticket?
Is your new flight beyond the expiration date of your fund?
If so, that's what is going on.
Yesterday SW announced extension of travel fund expiration dates. It also announced it will be a few weeks before that is actually reflected in travelers' travel fund accounts.

Not 100% sure what is causing the error, but you can always contact SW via the chat feature in the app or via Twitter or on Facebook. I know they are likely swamped right now, so hopefully you will get a quick response.
