A friend of mine had several flights, from DCA to Houston, cancelled during the Christmas week debacle at Southwest (Dec 2022). He had over $500 in travel credit, toward future travel, but wanted a full refund. A portion of the amount has been credited to his credit card of origin - but NOT the full amount. Is SW only giving partial refunds, and what is the justification for that (if true)? Thank you

A full cash refund is available for any flights that were not flown. If a portion of a round trip was completed the cost for the completed portion would be deducted from the refund. Refunds can be requested here: https://www.southwest.com/traveldisruption/

Thank you for your prompt reply! It turned out my friend did get his full refund, and the problem was in credit card record updates or something similar.
So all is resolved. Thanks again & fly well!
