I was wondering if the YT (11-17) can buy the ticket for themselves?

Anyone 12 and older can purchase a ticket and fly by themselves on Southwest. Ages 5-11 can fly alone as an unaccompanied minor which does have an extra fee and restrictions.

You can use points here as well. Minors can chat with the gate agent if they need to board earlier for specific reasons too.
