I paid with cash and my flight has an expiration of March 12, 2021. I missed the date on converting to points. We would really like to push this trip back due to COVID worries. Is this possible?

Unfortunately at this time southwest isn't making any other policy exceptions to travel funds being extended beyond the year from original purchase date. The exception that was being made expired September 7th 2020.
The only option currently which is on a case by case basis southwest may allow a 6 month extension of travel funds after the funds expire however there is a $100 fee *the fee could change and this exception isn't guaranteed. You would need to contact customer relations within 6 months of your funds expiring to request this exception.
