Using a Southwest Gift Card

If I book a flight (Wanna Get Away fare) for March and end up changing my flight to later in the year will this be a problem if I use a Southwest Gift Card?

Once you use a gift card on a flight those funds become non refundable and non transferable and you will have a year from when you originally buy the ticket on the flight to use those funds. 

You can change/cancel as much as you need to up till the funds expire just keep in mind if you book a flight for yourself only you will be able to use those funds.
