if return flight modified but not departure can u change whole reservation free

No, you can only change the flight that was modified.

I’m afraid this might depend on the agent you get on the phone. I could see if your return changed to where the trip won’t work but the flights a different date might work then they might be able to help but if you want to change to a different departure on same day for the outbound they might say no with some form of your outbound flight didn’t change you can change at the current price. 

best advise call be nice and they might be able to help.
