Hello,
Have flown on Southwest for a very long time, very disappointed. to me that is a part of the fare. Southwest just keeps your money and does on use that seat. unfair, I did not cancel because I wanted to. Canceled way before pull the numbers. Southwest may not be the bargain I though they were.
thanks

You knew or should have known the EB rules before you paid.
As far a good deal? I use SWA because they are convenient. Factoring in the extra costs for EB often puts them on par with other airlines.
The ever growing line of preborders, not taking a stand in seat saving, and not being able to reserve seats, is making me look more and more for other choices.
If I fly before the end of March I will fly Delta for the empty middle seat.

Unfortunately, the terms for EBCI are clear:
"All EarlyBird Check-In® purchases are nonrefundable. Customers who cancel their flight will forfeit the previously purchased EarlyBird Check-In® option for that particular flight.
In the event that a flight is cancelled by Southwest, the EarlyBird Check-In® purchased for the cancelled flight will be refunded."
If you would like to discuss further, I would recommend reaching directly to SW via one of the Contact Us methods below.

At one point in time in the recent past, Southwest was allowing some people to convert unused EB unds into vouchers. I don't remember what he rules were.
You could contact customer relations and ask:
