European plan vs. All-Inclusive

Hello everyone! I'm in the process of booking a vacation package and am encountering the term "European Plan". I am familiar with All-Inclusive (pretty self explanitory) and have been on those types of vacations before. I'm getting the idea tht EP is basically accomodations only, but it is more expensive than the base package rate. If you really don't get anything more for the extra money, then what is the use? Please help and thanks to all in advance.
