Geez dude, chill. As @NicoleAshley pointed out there is a staff of people that make these decisions and neither she nor anyone not a part of that team can answer your questions. It's great you have been such a diehard fan and frequent flyer. Don't take a route change personally.

TheMeddleSeat, you may be a little too invested in this forum. As you read, we've got the answer from an employee.

A week later, I received this "no-reply" email. Herb would not stand for such corporate gobbledygook. What is "Vickie" trying to say?  Did SWA stop non-stop flights for the uncertainty of COVID or demand? Why are corporate flacks afraid to answer a simple and reasonable question with the same?  SWA, you're acting like the other legacy carriers.  Please don't forget your culture. It's what built your success. In the meantime, we've booked our upcoming flights on Delta for the first time in 25 years, sad to say. This should mean something to SWA, considering that we earned companion passes 7 years in a row.

Dear Bob,

Thanks for contacting us. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are facing an unprecedented and uncharted situation, and we understand that many of our Customers are concerned about traveling at this time. We're working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and government officials and agencies to stay apprised of the latest prevention and containment protocols. That said, due to the uncertainty surrounding this situation, we have made the difficult decision to revise our flight schedule by removing select flights throughout our operation.

Ultimately, our goal is to enable our Customers to fly when and where they want. In order to do so, we must be strategic in our scheduling by pruning unproductive flights, making adjustments, and trimming frequencies to best match supply with demand. While the routes available may not be quite as convenient, we offer connecting flights year-round for most—if not all—of our  markets.

I’m truly sorry that, in the short term, you might be inconvenienced. We have tracked your feedback for our Senior Leaders via our monthly summary. In the meantime, we are constantly reevaluating our performance and our flight schedules, so check out the next time we release a new schedule.

All of us are committed to providing the best possible travel experience to our Customers, and we hope you will give us the chance to welcome you onboard in the near future.

Sincerely,
Vickie

Sorry, but if expect most SW employees know that status of the hundreds (thousands?) of routes and future plans for those routes, you are not being realistic. Route planners have an idea of what is going on, but they aren't going to share with anyone as there is a difference between what they think is going on and what actually is going on. Things can change until a decision ism made.

As far as the form letter goes, I'm not sure what you expect. SW flies over 100,000,000 people a year. Do you really think the airline has the capability to personally respond to inquires from a lot of them?

You are asking employees to speculate. They are not going to do that.

Are you still asking questions that will never be answered?

Yes, bummer you are booking on a different airline.  Meanwhile, that plane that was previously flying SLC-LAX is now flying to Bozeman, Chicago O'Hare, Colorado Springs, Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Fresno, Houston (Bush), Jackson, Miami, Montrose, Myrtle Beach, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Sarasota, Savanah, Steamboat Springs, and Syracuse.

All these cities recently added to the Southwest route map and probably added because they are more profitable than routes that were removed.  That's a lot of flyers that were previously using other airlines who are now using Southwest.  I believe Herb would be quite excited about that.
