I noticed these panels are carried on baggage loaders. It looks like they fit in the cargo door opening, and say "Remove before closing door". What is the purpose? (Just curious).

That's a bin door protector. It's is supposed to be installed right after the bin door is opened for unloading and taken off upon completion of loading the a/c of baggage and freight/cargo. It's purpose is to protect the outside of the door from possible damage to the door in the above process since the cargo bin door swings inside. There are times when we have cargo/freight or even mobility devices that are just as tall as the bin door opening which puts risking the door being damaged. Door damage can result in delays or cancellations and cost more in fuel drag. Hope that helps and that's the best answer I can give from a SWA ramper.

Thank you, I know I'd get an answer from a "subject matter expert"!
