From the Midway point of view I don't expect any long-term reduction, the place is already about maxed out and will continue to be an airport with a dominant amount of connections being made. 

 

O'Hare will have only a share of a handful of gates, so I think we're only looking at a few destinations for people that aren't connecting in Chicago. I'm sure there is some big data showing people want to come to conventions or business on the north/northwest side and where those people will fly to. 

 

It seems like looking for an opportunity to establish some foothold in a place that otherwise wouldn't have been available, and it's a way to carry some more staff to avoid a layoff.
