Where to Begin

Hi there,

I am a 28-year-old returning student to college. I have decided to pursue my lifelong passion for flying airplanes. I am one semester from finishing a two-year degree this spring. My end game goal is to fly for Southwest Airlines, and it has been since I was a young child. My research has led me to see there are several different ways to get the qualifications needed to fly for Southwest. I am looking for guidance on the route Southwest prefers.

One of the pathways I have found is through ATP. All of their information says that they are among the top when it comes to flight training and providing the pilot the airlines prefer. The guaranteed flight instructor job also sounds good to get the 1500 hours. Would Southwest consider a pilot who trained with them that earned an online four-year degree while working at a regional airline? Or, would Southwest prefer a different route?

Any comments or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Did you figure out answers to your questions?  How's the process going?
