Adult gate checking wagon, no children involved

mwilson_book
New Arrival

First off, love to Southwest for their generous baggage allowances.  I have seen many posts regarding families checking foldable wagons with no problems. Will the same accommodation of being able to gate check a foldable wagon for an adult be allowed? I would rather not assume and have a surprise at the airport. This could be a game changer for carting all our race gear.

A wagon is a wagon.

The question is in regards to gate checking the wagon.

Southwest's website states that the allowance is one item per child without charge in addition to the regular free baggage allowance. It's possible however that the gate agent won't care that you are transporting gear and not a child.

Perhaps someone with experience gate checking a wagon sans child could chime in?

You may also want to check with Southwest directly, although contact is somewhat problematic these days.

Good luck.

Just curious, Are you riding in this wagon? If not checking it before security might be easier? If you're carrying valuables in the wagon I suggest carrying them on your person.
