Can you travel with a clean gasoline can (new, never used) in your checked baggage?

I'm supposed to travel to NC next week, and my kids have asked me to bring new, never-used gas cans, as they can't find any due to the gasoline shortage.

Hi.

You should be able to bring any type of empty can.
