Protect yourself:  wash hands, bring wipes for your seat. N95 if you have it, or even some homemade masks can be mid-level effective. BYO snacks and get a beverage in the terminal.

Protect others: wear a face covering.

As Covid 19 is transmitted by aerosol and droplet transmission why do not airlines use the existing emergency oxygen masks for each passenger?  This could slow the transmission risk to other passengers that are definitely NOT 6 feet away.

Uh, it's right there in the name:  "emergency".

1.  The masks can't be reused.

2.  The oxygen supply would run out and need to be replaced

3.  They wouldn't last the whole flight.

It's kinda like you wanting to use your passenger side airbag as a pillow to sleep on in a car ride.  It's just not at all practical.

Agree, just too easy to have your own mask.  I'm hoping that SW at least has masks for those who for whatever reason don't have one, or better yet, deny them access to the plane.

Right.

That makes all the sense in the world.

Especially when there is an actual emergency, like a loss of cabin pressure.

Then what'll we do?  Who cares if we all die of asphyxiation, cuz at least we'll be safe from Covid-19.
