My son is flying from New York to Atlanta and he is visiting my daughter in college. I read on the Southwest website that when you pick up you go to the ticket desk to ask for an escort pass however my son is mature and has traveled multiple times alone before and can easily get out of the airport. Do we need an escort pass for him? Is it mandatory?

Solution
No.
The only time you must go to the gate is for an unaccompanied minor which Southwest describes as someone age 5-11.
