Grandmother not allowed to board with us

Hey SWA,

On our recent trip to Tampa for Spring Break with our three kids, my 70 year old mother in law also accompanied us on this trip.

When we were in the family boarding process, the gate agent held her at the ramp door and informed us that she was unable to board with us.  We had no idea that was going to happen.

She was visiting from Canada and had never flown SWA.  Thank goodness I gave her a "crash course" on the boarding procedure prior to this incident.

We saved her a seat (which our fellow passengers were awesome about), and had a nice flight. We wish we were informed BEFORE the flight so we could have prepared accordingly.  Not a very good customer service experience at the time.

Could SWA be a little more accomodating to 55+ travelers if they are part of a family group?

Thank you.
