How difficult to get an NPE to meet Grandma at gate?

How difficult is it for me and my sons to get an NPE (Non-Passenger Escort) gate pass to meet Grandma at the gate? She does NOT require a wheelchair, but be nice to greet/assist her at the gate ... plus we were thinking of having a meal airside.

I realize this falls a bit into the TSA turfdum ... but is this something that Southwest employees (who I've found use "common sense" rather than are rigid with rules) can do? Traveller is same last name.

Thanks,

alek

P.S. The "other" Grandma actually DOES require a wheelchair which I enter into the record when I book her flights. Does that "help" in getting an NPE?

FYI: This isn't a Southwest customer service channel, it's a forum where people can exchange stories and comments. I have no recent experience with getting a gate pass, but I do know that it shouldn't be difficult to get one unless they are limited due to heavy volume at security.

For an "official" answer, I recommend reaching out to Southwest via Twitter.
