Overall dimensions vs packing dimensions

Hi, I just bought a new 29'' luggage with a overall dimensions including handle and wheels of 32.3+18.9+12.6=63.8 and a packing dimensions of 29+18.5+10=57.5. Which type of dimension does Southwest use? Is this luggage too big for the 62 inches allowance of free checked bag? Thanks Alex Chen

Exterior dimensions are what airlines measure, but don't measure the wheels. Suitcase manufacturers design suitcases to fit airline regulations and yours is right at 62". Your bag is fine.

On a side note, it would be rather funny to watch an airline open your suitcase, dump your stuff, then measure the inside of your bag.
