My husband purchased a ticket to New Orleans several weeks ago. The departure date is 3/27 however based on the urging of the CDC as well as government officials in our state (NY) and New Orleans he cancelled his flight today. The current info from the CDC is that we're looking at the virus effects lingering at least 18 months. We have no idea when it will be safe to travel or how long it will take us to FEEL comfortable travelling and are hoping Southwest will issue refunds back in the original form of payment regardless of Non or refundable status. We cancelled in order to comply with government officials requests and to ensure the safety of our lived ones and community. We have a 97 year old living with us as well as a small child. It is understood SW is working to make adjustments and decisions as things quickly change yet I think this is a no brainer. People are scared and the money used for tickets is needed back in our pockets especially now that some of us cannot work due to company closings. Hopefully SW will look at tweaking this refund policy as a measure of good faith and good business.
