Travel funds expiring for Canadians who weren’t allowed to cross the border

I am Canadian and had a flight booked out of Buffalo New York but I wasn’t allowed to cross the border for close to two years. My funds are expiring but Southwest will not extend them. They will extend them after they have expired minus $100.00!  This is not fair and they told me that they have not changed their travel policies for COVID. Every other airline has but they won’t. I will be out the money that is in my travel funds before I can use them again. Customer service was extremely unhelpful

"Every other airline has" - not true

Your best bet is to write a letter explaining your situation.  As you noted, you can convert an expired travel fund into a voucher.  If you need to do that it is also a good idea to submit the request in writing.

Use the contact us link at the bottom of the page and send a message.
