SW has stopped enforcing its rules a few years ago, and it is no longer pleasurable, nor economically useful to fly Southwest.  Where I generally fly out, with a little planning, Delta and American can be equal in price.  It is a huge turnoff upon boarding to see the one faker with an entourage preboard. ... @Jack2act I know this isn't the solution to what you are seeking, but, here goes anyway.  As a senior myself (67) I am for the most part able bodied and have never even had a thought of trying to get any early access to boarding.  But just as a individual I take no issue with any senior getting any extra benefit, in good faith or not, for any service.  The more elderly they are, the more I accept that.   ... Funny—my kinda thread. In my experience/perception, the 800s do bump about more, relatively speaking. I presumed (on top of the presumption that is at all true) it’s because they are built of lighter materials.   The trade-off comfort-wise is they are much quieter, headrests, more exit rows/space etc etc  ... Yes there is a skycap and they are awesome! So incredibly efficient and friendly! Unfortunately they are not there 24/7. Their current hours are 7 AM to 4 PM at the time of this writing but you may want to call Southwest before your departure date to confirm this. ... View more

Be careful with Flightaware, it a great tool, but you have to make sure you're looking at the whole itinerary of a flight #. SWA flies multiple legs on the same flight number often so you have to drill down sometimes to find exactly what's what.  Today as I sit in DAL Flightaware is changing as I write this, Flight 51 is a hot mess that was flying me to Hobby and coming from Lubbock under the same #,  but now due to thunder storms appears to be morphing into another plane that may be coming from Long beach or Tampa Don't lose faith, my fingers are crossed Safe travels   ... I fly out of BDL (Hartford) and PVD (Providence). PVD has 3 parking garages...2 owned by the airport and one that was owned by the airport but is now privately owned. I park in the private garage (called Red Beam Garage C). It is a good deal cheaper than the others and is still on airport property. There are very few off-site lots at PVD. If I stay overnight the night before I stay at the Holiday Inn Express.   BDL has a parking garage and 4 lots scattered around airport property. The garage is expensive. In winter I park in the garage as things can get brutal around here. In other times of year I park in what's called Express Lot 1. It is next to the terminal and not a long walk. If there is a shuttle waiting I take that, if not I walk. There are a lot of off-site lots at BDL, and I have friends who always use the Parking Spot. For overnight stays I use LaQuinta. ... View more
