SW is doing a far better job than other airlines. It’s almost impossible to police everything.

@Clarkede The best thing you can do on your side is go into the interview believing in yourself. Take every question slowly and think before you speak. Take deep breaths after you answer each question, and try to have fun with the process. You will do great!

I wanted to give kudos to the LAX SWA employees and flight crew on flt# 2074 this past Tuesday to Nashville. From check in to boarding, the process was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and appreciative of our business. Once onboard the plane it was very noticeably clean and felt safe. Thank you SWA for taking our safety to a hole new level.

With the current situation with COVID, I think it’s safe to assume that all new opportunities (including internships) at SWA are on hold.

@pete1721 since the impact of COVID continues to change, I would say this program is on hold indefinitely. Like all other Companies, SWA would like to anticipate a 3-6 month timeline, but how can they guarantee it?

I think with our current economic situation, hiring is not the best solution. For passengers who need to speak to an actual person, I think SWA leaders could rotate being on call to help with the heavy call volume (maybe this is happening). Everyone needs to roll up their sleeves during situations like this.

I’m not disagreeing that wearing a mask can seem ridiculous, however if you want service from a company that requires it... “it is what it is”.

Have you contacted SWA either by phone or social media? I would start there for clarification.

At what point did you talk to the cabin crew about your concern? With open seating, I’m sure you had other options on the flight.

@Josetrr25 It’s all about timing. I’m sure the other applicants that were hired were already far enough in the hiring process. This scenario can happen during times like this when Companies have approved headcount to fill, and can justify the business need. Continue to check the SWA career site, and hopefully sooner than later you will see the position posted again. Good luck!

@Shondabbrown My advice to you is not to think about the competition because there always will be some. Just be confident in yourself and prove why you are the best fit for the position.

@KMT405 don’t give up on your desire to be a pilot. Being colorblind does not mean you are exempt from being a pilot. Depending on how severe your colorblindness is, you still might have an opportunity.

@Coldziej @Ro21 Unfortunately, closed complete means that you are no longer moving forward in the interview process. Please remember that competition is fierce and next time you apply, you will have the advantage of knowing what to expect when interviewing.

I agree with @ksbrg. Wait until an offer has been made before you mention your future commitments. As long as you are reasonable with the time off needed, I’m sure this is a non issue.

@Travelbug87 , I have not tested for this role, however I can imagine you will be asked question such as airport codes, simple math questions, and general policies and procedures. Have you searched for this information outside of SWA’s site? Several sites I have seen recommend doing research and knowing this information before your interview.

@BreeArnaud the advantage you now have is you know what to expect. Keep researching the role and think back to the questions you were asked. Keep up the great attitude and don’t give up. The next time you interview, I have a feeling your end result will be different.

I have only worked for a few companies over my career journey, but the structure has always been similar. All have been large corporations that have many levels to the organization. Due to the amount of applicants we receive, it would be impossible for the hiring manager(s) to interview / buy off on everyone. When we have an applicant for a professional role, the hiring manager is more involved. When I was a Recruiting Manager my role was to support the recruiters, handle any concerns that an applicant might bring up, and make sure we were following wage and hour laws. Rarely did I ever interview hourly applicants (which is a large percentage of our workforce) or buy off on the hiring. My company does not have the recruiters as part of the compensation package.. We have a separate department that only handles salary. They are too busy conducting interviews. The recruiters at my company are all HR professionals who are a trusted representative of our brand. Im sure the structure you referred to does take place with smaller businesses, but I’m sure SWA and the amount of applicants they receive, follow somewhat of the same flow as I described.
