After just laying off thousands with even more taking voluntary separation packages, no airline will be hiring soon -- IMO. When things get better, the airlines will first make offers to those who were impacted as mentioned in the first paragraph.

It's probably a good idea for somebody with a respiratory condition such as COPD to avoid unnecessary exposure risks right now. Such as being inside an enclosed container with other people and not wearing a mask. Personally, I'm taking as few exposure risks as I possibly can these days.

totally agree with your assessment on this. but that damage doesn't have to be because not just one, the majority of bag handlers don't give a hoot about your bag or items. It's like the police, they know if they are sued the city pays for the settlement, so lives the baggage handler, they know you the passenger assume the risk of putting your bag on the belt, they will never pay.

When deplaning I often see more than 2 cleaners waiting to board the plane to clean. The cleaning crew works together in teams to get the job completed. I have confidence that this is a non issue.

SW is doing the best they can (more than other airlines) since everything regarding Covid is inconsistent and changes by the day. I flew American last week, and let me tell you... SW is doing circles around them. American had every seat filled, allowed passengers to swarm at the gate before boarding, planes were filthy (enhanced cleaning, what a joke), and no one actively enforced face coverings. When I flew SW the week before, constant announcements at the gate and on the plane regarding face coverings, board in groups of 10, planes feel fresh and maintained, and the middle seat is open. Thank you SW for doing your part with our safety. American.., you need to take some pointers from them.

@claireledbetter since the airlines are most likely not hiring for awhile, you should take this time and educate yourself on what it takes to become an FA. There is a lot of helpful information out there. After conducting the reseach, you will have an advantage over others when the position does post.

If the airline can keep getting good fares, then they'll have more reason to keep the middle seats open longer. I hope so as well. I have some travel planned in October which will be under the current requirements. Otherwise I'll be very interested to find those less busy flights if possible.

My favorite of all time was when an obviously "fabulous" African American male flight attendant told us to keep the aisles clear during flight "because we will be coming through the plane with hot chocolate, and by hot chocolate, I mean me". I'm sure someone was offended by that. It made my day a little better, and I hope that he is still out there saying that.

Thank you. I flew back and used disinfectant wipes on the seat, arm rest, and tray. The Southwest attendants were happy to dispose of the wipes after use. Everything was (what I considered) to be handle well. The attendants had gloves and mask while on the plane.

No one likes waiting in line, and to feel disrespected on top of that is frustrating. I have found that in situations like that, it’s better for me to let it go. I don’t know about you, but I know many people are facing huge obstacles in life, and waiting a few more minutes to weigh my bag isn’t a big deal. Pay it forward next time. Trust me, it feels great.

I will reply here to tappingmom1 and you. While I agree with you 100%, I also know that when I'm frustrated that people fly by me 25 miles over the speed limit breaking the rules, at some point, there is a chance that they get caught and ticketed. But your points are well taken and I appreciate it. Mine, (and others) like yours, are comments to be taken as constructive and use as we wish. My comment is about voicing an option that could be considered for all those that can't control their behavior and take their own safety into consideration. I doubt SW wants anyone to take the, "well don't fly then," approach.

@Passenger1C wrote: I wanted to give kudos to the LAX SWA employees and flight crew on flt# 2074 this past Tuesday to Nashville. From check in to boarding, the process was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and appreciative of our business. Once onboard the plane it was very noticeably clean and felt safe. Thank you SWA for taking our safety to a hole new level. I was about to say if you give a twitter shoutout they can track down the staff for their virtual kick-tails...oh wait, you know that! I would like to get back to Nashville, I had a quick visit a few years back for a green building project which was good if quick.

@KMT405 wrote: That is OK and thanks for telling me! But I don't plan on applying any time soon. I was just curious as this is my dream to be apart of the Southwest team!! I suspect that that SW's requirements would mimic those of the FAA requirements for a commercial pilot's license. Those requirement indicate that some types of color blindness do and other types do not preclude a person from getting/keeping a commercial license. https://news.eyeque.com/2018/09/12/vision-requirements-for-pilots/ My personal view is that the ability to ascertain both red and green would be a requirement. Planes have green lights at the end of their right wings and red lights on the left wings. When you are flying at night and a plane appears in front of you , you can easily determine whether the plane is flying towards or away from you. If the red light is right of the green one, then the plane is flying towards you. If the green light is right of the red one, then the plane is flying away from you. So the inability to ascertain red and green would make it impossible to determine the direction of any plane that might happen to appear in front of your aircraft. Of course that is my personal opinion.

This seems to happen to me often enough, usually due to flight changes or other issues which are even more common these days. As stated, your safest fallback is a phone call. But also trying the website vs the app sometimes clears up the issue. Not so easy these days when we're all running around on our phones, but worth a try.
