I think you are asking about travel funds? You can use 3 payment methods when purchasing a flight. If 3 travel funds don't cover the entire purchase price you will need to use 2 travel funds and a credit card or some other method of payment to cover the remaining balance.

No testing is required for domestic travel, except for Hawaii.
When traveling internationally a test is required one day before you return to the US. Many hotels will arrange this for you.
Here is more information about returning to the US:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/international-travel/travel-assessment/index.html
Depending on vaccination status, testing may be required to travel to the Bahamas. More info here: https://www.bahamas.com/travelupdates

Let's hope so, it's frustrating to see people get annoyed with Southwest Airlines when Southwest Vacations (aka Apple) is the problem.

Ok, sounds like you were handed something that said the flight was cancelled and you get credit. Any credit from Southwest Airlines should not be limited to bookings just with Southwest Vacations. Here's the first thing I would try, use your confirmation number from the cancelled Southwest Airlines flight and see if you can access the travel fund associated with the flight: https://www.southwest.com/travel-funds/
If that works, then you have proven you can use the travel fund and book directly with Southwest Airlines. If there is no travel fund associated with that confirmation number then a cash refund was issued, but in your case this went back to Southwest Vacations and you should be able to acquire it from them. However, I am doubtful this happened since the default refund used by Southwest Airlines is a travel fund and you have to specifically request a cash refund. I'm guessing that's where your credit is.

The rule is based on calendar year and renewing or re-earning CP for the next year does not reset the counter. Here is the wording from Southwest:
"You may change your designated Companion up to three times each calendar year "

As you discovered, Southwest Vacations is a separate company unrelated to Southwest Airlines. There have been numerous posts in this Community about their lack of customer service and I personally would not advise doing business with them. I would like to understand what happened to you regarding the flights and credits related to flights better though since anything related to flights typically follows Southwest Airlines' policies.
Were you given a LUV Voucher by Southwest Airlines as a good will gesture when your flight was cancelled? If so, that would be independent from Southwest Vacations and could be used to purchase a flight on southwest.com. OR, did you call Southwest Vacations and obtain a credit voucher directly from them

It sucks to learn the hard way, but it's mentioned quite frequently in posts here that there's no need to transfer points, just have the account holder purchase the flight for someone else. In fact, I just posted this yesterday, "Since transferring points is expensive my suggestion would be to log into the account and purchase flights for other people"
Also, don't buy points.

Regarding the refund, see this thread:
https://community.southwest.com/t5/Travel-Policies/Refund-due-to-death/m-p/87017/highlight/true#M6592
You can cancel the booked flight now via his account online and that will generate another travel fund. It seems that you should have up until the earliest expiration date of the travel funds to call about a refund, I don't believe there's a need to call asap. As you noted, informing Southwest of the death may trigger closure of the RR account. That's an interesting question and not one I recall seeing an answer to previously.
Since transferring points is expensive my suggestion would be to log into the account and purchase flights for other people using the points before calling about the refund. You could even book flights way off in the future that you do not intend to take, just so the points are not sitting in the account. Once you actually know what flight you want to use the points on you can change the flights as needed. Once the points are spent go ahead and call about the refund. Just don't cancel the points bookings if the account gets closed since it wouldn't be clear where the refunded points would go to if the account is closed.

When booking a reservation with multiple travelers a travel fund for a single passenger can be used. As long as the passenger to whom the travel fund belongs is included in the reservation the travel fund can be applied. If there is excess value on the travel fund it will remain in the travel fund and will not be applied to other passengers. The remaining due balance for other passengers will need to be paid with another form of payment.

When it has been discussed before, the flat tire "policy" is applicable to all fares. However, the fun part about unofficial policies is they may work or they may not. No one can guarantee what happens if you were to show up at the airport as your flight is departing. You can certainly say "I had a flat tire" and hope for the best. Southwest could put you on the next flight for free, or all flights could be full and you're stuck, or an agent decides to charge you the fare difference, or worst case scenario you miss the flight and you receive no credit and have to pay full fare for a flight later in the day.
Perhaps I'm reading into your inquiry too much, but it almost seems as if you are asking so you could abuse the "policy", purposefully missing your flight, claiming flat tire, just to get on a later flight for the same price. Please don't do this. If you need to take a later flight do the right thing and make an official change to your flight.

If your RR account number was added to the reservation when the companion added you it would show up in your account. If you have the confirmation number you can add your RR number so it does show up in your account.
"To add your Rapid Rewards number to your reservation on Southwest.com click on Flight/Hotel/Car at the top of the screen. Under Flight select Manage Reservations. From here look up your flight using one of the two options available and click on Add Rapid Rewards number next to your name."

Based on previous reports, the companion of a Business Select fare ticketed passenger receives no adjustment to their normally selected boarding position, whether that is through EarlyBird or not. Companions of other fare ticketed passengers/companion pass holders would receive a sequential boarding position to the companion pass holder. It's a perk for Companion Pass holders, but excludes Business Select fares.

Is the confirmation number the same on both emails? If so it is one flight. If not, it's two. The flight is bookable as one reservation, the long layover is not a factor. If luggage is your concern, having a single confirmation number means everything is fine the way it is. If there are two different confirmation numbers then you can go to the full service check-in counter when you check-in and request your bags be checked through to your final destination. I do not suspect this is the case, but you blocked out the confirmation number which is the only way to actually determine that.

Not a problem. Your backpack would be your personal item that goes under the seat in front of you and the ukulele is your carry on that goes in the overhead. If the flight isn't too full you may be able to put both items overhead.

Boarding position reserved 36 hours prior, boarding passes available 24 hours prior. Since your boarding position is assigned there's no benefit or need to obtain it right at 24 hours prior, you could even just wait until you arrive at the airport.

Are you certain that you followed the terms and conditions of the promotion? There has definitely been a lot of confusion about it.

I took advantage of this promotion so I'll share my positive experience. Knowing I needed my statement date to be in January so any points from spending I did in December would post in January, I waited until the last minute to apply, I believe it was Dec 6. It took a day or two for me to get a final decision, but shortly after that I was up and running, spending by linking my new account to my Google Pay account before I had an actual card. Because I waited until early December to open the account, the first statement date was January 5 and the 50,000 bonus points and points related to spending all posted to my RR account in Jan 2022. So purchases could have been made "early" and count towards CP earning in 2022, you just had to time it out right or not spend enough to hit the initial 50,000 point threshold until you were in a statement that closed in January. There's no trickery here, just learn how the process works and utilize it to your advantage. Now if Southwest would provide the "boost" points I'll really be in good shape.

The OP mentioned an extension of the travel fund, not the usual process of reinstating an expired travel fund. To quote the OP, "I was told that all travel funds of $100. or more are being extended 6 months"
While no extension has been announced, that's what the OP appears to be referencing. I have my doubts about such an extension, but I wasn't on the phone call.

That's a tricky one. Only suggestion I have is to write again explaining that the final flight needed for earning A-List in 2021 was flown on Dec 31 and while it was originally part of a round trip with a return flight scheduled for Jan 4, that portion of the reservation was cancelled. Since the only flight on the reservation that was actually completed was completed in 2021 all credit for A-List purposes should count towards 2021, not 2022 as is currently happening.
Good luck, it may still not be possible due to some inability to override the computer which is saying it was a 2022 credit, but in my opinion you have a good argument.

Was the flight flown on Dec 31 part of a round-trip reservation with the 2nd leg in 2022? That would be the only reason a flight might not count for 2021 when flown in 2021. Even then, someone should be able to rectify the issue. What do you mean "entered in error" since no one is manually entering flight data?
You really are better off writing so someone can have the time to research the issue and determine how to resolve it versus putting a phone agent on the spot when they may not have all the needed info/ability to adjust it.

You could increase the value of your travel fund. Book a flight that is more than $100, I found a random flight from DEN to DAL for $104 by using the low fare calendar. Use the travel fund you have and pay the remaining balance with a credit card. Then immediately cancel the reservation and you will have a new travel fund for the higher price that still expires on 4/1/22.
While you may have heard about an extension from an agent I have not yet seen any official statement about an extension. Be aware that you may still not receive an extension since nothing official has yet been announced. Let us all know if you do this and do get an extension.

Travel funds are issued to all passengers and not having a RR account has nothing to do with it. When a RR account number is associated with passenger it does appear in your account as a convenience. To redeem the travel fund you will need the passenger name(s) and the confirmation number of the cancelled reservation and you enter it as a form of payment when completing the purchase.
You can see value of travel funds here: https://www.southwest.com/travel-funds/
