@CecileBrennan I would recommend you reach out to Southwest on Twitter because news reports are stating that Trump and the FAA just banned the MAX from flying here in the US and hopefully they can help. -Blake

With flights in the coming days I'm guessing Southwest will try to swap the plane with the 800 or 700 if they can otherwise I'm guessing they will have no choice but to cancel flights. The best advice is to check your flight status on Southwest.com or the mobile app -Blake

@terrielynn When you buy Early Bird check in Southwest (there system) will check you in 36 hours before your flight. You won’t be able to obtain your boarding pass or see your boarding position until 24 hours before your flight. Your position should be assigned in order of those who bought EB meaning if I bought EB before you I should have a slightly better boarding position (assuming the system works right) Hope this helps Blake

I was hoping to find an answer without holding for 2 hours to speak with a representative. I really don't want to change my flight if I can avoid it. It's really the only time I can travel. Southwest is allowing a one-time change to everyone booked thru March 27 (currently) in light of customer concerns in flying on 737 MAX aircraft. If you don't want to change your flight you can ignore that notification. I don't see the option to change for free for my flight on the 26th or 27th of March

You can look for free but once you confirm the change on the payment screen it's final unless you pay to change your flight again.

@Vickinog Unless you got an email saying your flight is cancelled then I don't see a need for you to change your flight. Sometimes it may also give you that message and option to change if the airline is in the process of adding your city to the waiver. On another note I wonder if your getting that message because of the MAX8 crash that happened. If you dont like the flight your on then you could try and change it since its giving you that message. Hope this helps Blake

@bjazz99 So if I understand correctly you would change the flight from Manchester-Tucson to Chicago-Tucson? If you cancel the one way you will lose the EB check in alternatively you could call Southwest and explain you want to change the outbound flight and they should be able to help and change that flight which you would keep the EB check in because changes keep EB as long as the change is to a flight more than 36 hours out. They may have to split your RT booking in to 2 one way flights to make the change but then at least you would still have the EB. hope this helps Blake

Just wanted to add you would need to be on the full website. The mobile app and mobile site won't show you what aircraft you will be on. You can also look up the flight on sites like flightview or flightaware and it will tell you the aircraft type -Blake

As stated already the vouchers can't be extended or sold. You can try and take a day trip or weekend getaway or you can give it away to someone. If you are going towards A List the flights booked with a voucher count towards the A List flights. If you don't know anyone that could use it you could also dontate it. Or find a middle seat lover and donate it to them.

@Centenary4017 I’m sorry to hear you feel things have been going downhill lately I know delays and cancellations are not fun and the occasional unfriendly gate agent doesn’t help either. Have you tried sending Southwet an email letting them know how you feel? If not I would just write them a message by clicking on the contact us link at the bottom of the page and just tell them what’s let you down and someone will respond as soon as they can. You could also send a letter to the address on that page as well. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon! Blake

@hagueac1 There are a couple ways you can handle this 1. Your husband can drop you and your son off with all of the luggage at the sky cap. If you have 4 bags your checking or less you could check 2 under you and 2 under your son (as long as your son has his own ticket not a lap child). They can print the boarding passes for you and your son (probably your husbands as well) then you could meet just before security to give him his boarding pass if they printed it for you or if they didn't print it for some reason he can stop by the self service check in and print the pass in about 30 seconds by entering the confirmation number or inserting his ID. Then you could all go though security and be on your way. If he has a mobile boarding pass he could use that as well. 2 if you have more than 4 checked bags he could drop you off with all the luggage and you could wait for him off to the side somewhere while he parks the car and when he arrives you could all check your bags and get your boarding passes and be on your way. You may ask why would we wait if we have more than 4 bags because each ticketed person gets 2 bags free so by waiting on your husband you can check the extra bags for free. Unfortunately you can't check bags for him as he would need to be present to show his ID. Hope this helps Blake

@cwiege I'm sorry to hear of the troubles your family has had trying to get your son home. With the winter weather and some thunderstorms in other areas of the country it is causing some flight delays and cancellations. They are not fun but they happen. One thing to keep in mind even if there is not weather where you are departing or arriving from the inbound plane may have been coming from somewhere with weather causing a domino effect for your sons flight. I know this wont help you much right now since its the weekend but I recommend you reach out to customer relations on Monday at 855-234-4654 so they can look in to everything as they are best suited for looking in to things like this. Being that this is a customer to customer forum I highly recommend you edit your post to remove the confirmation number for the reservations security. Hope your son makes it without any other delays! when you go to the payment page does it still say +5? Also is it a same day multi city reservation? If so sometimes it will show on the flight search +5 (or some other cost) but will correct itself when you get to the payment screen or the page where it recaps what you want to change (before you confirm the change). I see this a lot when I do same day multi city trips. If it doesn’t correct itself you could cancel and rebook or as suggested call Southwest and they can try and help. -Blake

@teesa2you First off welcome to Southwest and the community! now to answer yours questions 1. If you check in on the app you can check in on the website as well and it won’t affect your boarding position (if you wanted you could check in 1,000 times and nothing would change). When it comes time to board the Pre boarders and A Group will line up there will will be a monitor that says A 1-30 on one side and 31-60 on the other side (terminal side and window side) there are posts in increments of five (1-5, 6-10 and so on). They will take the pre boarders then the A group. After the A group will be Family Boarding you can line up at that time as the monitors will change from A to B and after family boarding they will take Bs then they will board Cs. They will announce As line up Bs line up at the appropriate times to help. 2. On Southwest it is an open seating policy meaning you can sit in any open seat. With B1 you should have no problem getting a window or aisle at mid cabin or towards the back of the plane. B1 is not bad as there would be pre boarders, family boarders and up to 60 people (from A group) in front of you. 3/4. If you sit in the aisle you would just grab your suitcase and be on your way when it’s your rows turn to deplane. Since your on a continuous flight they will ask you to remain in your original seat until the crew gets an accurate thru count. You can get out to let the others out from your row and just wait until the crew does there count before you get your bag you can switch seats at that time if you’d like. With a 40min turn (layover) odds are there won’t be enough time for you to deplane to get food or drink or use the terminal restroom. You can use the restroom on the plane though and just place your coat on the seat most people are understanding. If you are moving seats i would move your carry on to an overhead bin near your new seat before using the restroom (in case Boarding starts while your in the restroom) *on occasion the airline may swap your plane which would cause you to deplane go to a new gate and if that happens you would take everything with you and you could use the restroom in the terminal if there is time or grab a drink. Usually when they do a swap you would board first (either before pre boarders or right before the A group) you would just show your ID and be on your way to pick any open seat. 5. Most people I have encountered on planes have been nice from time to time there may be a rude person who moves your stuff to take your seat but it doesn’t happen that often if it does happen I would Just move to not cause a scene or you could tell a FA. 6. Now days kindles, ipads, phones, laptops can be used during flight as long as they are in Airplanes mode. Laptops can only be used above 10K feet they will make an announcement for that but kindles can be used gate to gate as long as it’s in airplane mode. Hope this helps! Blake

I've haven't heard of that error before. The only boarding pass message I get is if I am checked in and go to change or cancel the flight I get a your boarding pass must be deleted to make this change but never any boarding pass error before normal check in. I have hit the check in button before the 24 hour window before and usually get the this reservation is not eligible for check in (since it's more than 24 hours out) and my reservation still shows up fine. Do you have the Southwest app? Maybe try and see if you can view your reservation that way. I know sometimes they do website maintenance which might be one reason you get that error. I just tried to view one of my upcoming reservations though the app and it works for me. There is also a look up reservation feature so you don't have to log in (in case you think your account gives you that error) Hope this helps Blake

Your TSA pre check won’t show up on your itinerary or any of the pre flight emails southwest sends. It will show up on your boarding pass at check in as long as it was on your reservation. If you added the KTN number to your profile after booking and you didn’t enter it when booking you may need to call and have them add the number to any reservations before the KTN number was on your profile. -Blake

@TheMiddleSeat wrote: Even if you booked the two legs as separate reservations you can request the bags be checked through to your final destination while you are dropping off bags. You would need to do this at the counter, not via a kiosk. The only time you should have to retrieve your bags mid-trip is if you have a layover when returning to the United States from an international location. --TheMiddleSeat Of course there is no gurantee they will check it all the way if each leg is booked seperatly. I'm guessing that would all depend on the person at the counter.

According to the terms and conditions of the LUV voucher it can't be sold as it could void the voucher if someone at Southwest caught you selling it. You can however use it on anyone. If you want to dontate it i dont see why you couldn't. Hope this helps! Blake

@mrsmcivor If your flight was booked as a scheduled connection your bags will be transferred. When I say scheduled connection I mean if you search say AUS HNL and it gives you a route such as AUS (connect OAK) then on to HNL your bag will transfer. If you booked each leg seperatly then you would have to check you bags again in OAK. Hope this helps! Blake

Sorry to hear you didn't get any email about your points about to expire that would frustrate me as well if I lost points due to them expiring. Are you signed up to receive Southwest emails? If not that could be one reason you were not notified that your points were about to expire. Some people might accidentally unsubscribe so I would double check if you haven't received any other emails. I do know that they send out emails ahead of time though to those signed up for rapid rewards accoint emails.
