I think it's a good move to ditch the jackets. I guess that bag receipts will have to be stapled to boarding passes in the future. I can't remember the last time I got a ticket jacket, so it's been over a decade. Of course I almost never check bags.

@Brandy4roussel Sorry to hear your bags are lost I hope they are found and returned to you soon. In addition to calling the number provided by @TheMiddleSeat you can visit the website on your delayed baggage report and send a message there on that portal and they can assist that way. I recommend you keep your receipts for clothes and Necessities you may purchase that way you can request reimbursement through the online portal and hopefully they will help you. -Blake

@dfwskier wrote: Actually, I see cheaper hidden city fares fairly frequently. It normally happens on routings where SW doesn't offer non stop service, but the competition does. So Southwest matches the competition's fare with a connection, and viola, the hidden city fare is cheaper.. I see what you mean, there would be a driver there that would leave an opening for pricing to diverge from A + B = C. I still wouldn't do it since I want to get the points. OP may be have been unlucky then to fall ill in a city where Southwest would have already noticed some percentage of people tending not to make it onto their connection.

@dissatisfied999 wrote: Beware flying SWA! I flew standby and was given a confirmed boarding pass by SWA, out of Houston airport, with confirmed destination Kansas City. Flight had 1 stop with no plane change. SWA forced me off the planeduring the stop, in Albequerque, and refused me a flight to Kansas City until 24 hours later on SWA. I was stranded in Albuquerque overnight, and there was great need to reach Kansas City due to hospitalization of loved one with terminal cancer. SWA in Albeq offered me no assistance, hotel, food or even drink. I was forced to purchase a ticket on an alternate airline to get me out of Albeq the next morning. When I submitted this issue to SWA customer service, I was told too bad. SWA won't reimburse me for cost of other carrier's ticket. So, SWA issues a confirmed boarding pass to final destination Kansas City, and then lands me in Albeq and says 'we changed our mind, too bad', and dumps me in Albeq, forces me to find my own way home asap, and refuses to honor cost of my forced flight on another carrier to Kansas City. Spread the word - Be wary of flying SWA!! I hope there wasn't some mixup with the communication, I don't think the wording should have been "confirmed" for that ABQ-MCI leg. Lessons learned for anyone else trying similar: Standby on a connecting flight should be considered for the risk of that second leg - try to find out how many open seats there are if standby, or else double-check that you are confirmed for all segments. If there is a risk on a second segment, try to get stranded somewhere with more options to get to your destination. Hopefully the situation doesn't repeat itself for you, but for anyone else out there considering a standby with connection.

@aalleman Sorry to hear your bag was late arriving but glad to hear it was found and returned to you. To submit receipts for reimbursement you would want to go Here and enter your incident number and last name to log in. Your case may show as "closed" but there should be a place to send a message at the bottom of that page and that will reopen your case and you can attach the receipts there with a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Hope this helps Blake

The release dates are subject to change and this one has changed several times. As another customer I don't know if this will change again, but the current release wording is as follows: "We are currently accepting air reservations through November 2, 2019. On May 30,2019 we will open our schedule for sale through January 5, 2020. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently." Here is the source page to see if the date changes: https://www.southwest.com/air/flight-schedules/index.html

It was really fun! The stage shows were awesome! Love the free popcorns, all very Southwest Airline colored popcorns! The only thing that I wish was it was missing a Southwest Airline information booth, not just on the Sunset activities, but, a booth where people can know more about Southwest Airline, like who is the current CEO, who was the first CEO that started Southwest, etc.. and all the special people at Southwest Airline. A small history with pictures would do. Something that says more about Southwest Airline's company background and related information I think guest would enjoy to know. Maybe a small Southwest Airline computer / info. interactive terminal area would do nicely. Maybe talk about Southwest Airline careers would be nice also. Anyway, it was great! Had a good time! I believe the only way to get the long layover is to book point to point which means paying for 2 one ways. I noticed the longest layover Southwest offers as a connection is 4 hours before having to book 2 one ways or point to point.

@Sticks11 wrote: Well it was a big fat no... A little frustrated that whoever is running their Twitter page would give me hope of a better outcome. Oh well, I guess I know better than to book so early next time.... Thanks everyone! I don't know if this is helpful or not - but you seemed happy to have something locked in at the given price at the time. So I'd look at the travel funds for the adults as a bonus, and the funds for the kids as unfortunately likely to be lost unless something comes up. Agreed that you can't mess with the mouse trips!

@milesmr My guess is the reason you can't book the return would be there are no connections available. What I mean by that is depending on where you are coming from the first flight may not arrive with enough time for you to connect to a flight going to MSP. As @SWDigits mentioned if you are able to share your departure to MSP city I might be able to do some research to see why you are unable to book the return flight. You could try booking a point to point reservation like A-B and B-C and that should help with getting you back to MSP hope this helps Blake

@AbbyHarvey11 First off sorry for your loss my condolences to you and your family. For this kind of itinerary change I recommend you reach out to reservations at 800-435-9792 and they should be able to split you off so you can change your reservation for the one way. Just know for the return you would need to check in separately as I’m guessing they would split off your whole RT (if you originally booked a RT flight) and you would have a separate confirmation number. Hope this helps Blake

I appreciate your reply Blake;-), but I want to make sure I understand? Even though I got a thank you but no thank you letter a recruiter would still contact me? I did have contact with a recruiter. The recruiter instructed me to update my resume and to resend it. A week later when I was seconds away from sending it, I got the Thank you but no thank you letter. I took this as a learning scenario to not wait so long when given a chance to perfect something that could have potentially moved me the next level. Now, all that being said my update status still says under review. Am I still a potential candidate? Either way, I know I love Southwest, and I will apply again next time.

One thing that I have found good to do is to check in on line or by phone close to 24 hours before departure. It is not necessary to print the boarding pass, but it gives the traveler a chance to check on the status and let's the airline know you are still good to go. Traveler Tip: When you do not have Early Boarding it is especially important to check in by phone or on line as soon as the 24 hour period begins so that your boarding pass is issued at the lowest number possible. You do not have to print it when you check-in but it puts you in the queue.

@SWDigits wrote: @emcadam2 a resource for you this morning if you're interested. You can check the real-time status of your friend's flight from ATL to BWI using Flight Aware here. It looks like the plane for her flight is almost to Atlanta (click on the link at the top of the page that states, "Where is my plane now?") that's cool, thank you! I'll share that with her as well. I'll watch her flight while I wait here in buffalo haha

@DancingDavidE wrote: Excess points will go back to the account holder's RR total - hopefully what you actually did was have the family member book your ticket instead of transferring the points which takes a hefty toll. If not, do it that way next time to save the total number of points. I didn't catch this in the original post until I went back to re-read after I saw the post from @DancingDavidE (we were replying at the same time!) Yes, hopefully your family member booked the ticket for you rather than transferring points to your account. My first reply assumed that they booked on your behalf.

@Jwalsh3rd wrote: This old travel;er is grateful to hear this story. I have used Twitter, but Live Chat is a great idea. Used it on a lot of websites, but what a great tool when all else seems to be failing me. This is a super valuable new piece of knowledge for me! Thanks for both of the replies that brought this up. When you use Live Chat you also automatically provide the support team with your information, when you use twitter you'll have to send your confirmation number or other identyfing information via direct message, so Live Chat is definitely preferred by cutting out that step of identyfing you when you connect. It also cuts out the opporutnity to accidentally send your confirmation number as a tweet instead of a direct message.
