If your friend had realized the error immeditely after buying the tickets, the claim would have had greater credibility. I've done that -- Realizing I'd made a mistake minutes after hitting the "buy ticket." button. In those cases the airline has been pretty acomodating. Waiting a significant amount of time since the intial purchase just looks more suspcious. All I can suggest is to try customer relations again. You might get the same response as the first time, or maybe a different one. My guess is that you'll get the same response. You won't know unless you try. Good luck. That's probably the best suggestion to reach out by customer relations or twitter, but if the family member has already paid for the change then I think it would be difficult to reverse it. It's complicated since there is a 24-hour window to refund any mistakes if it was realized right away, and going back now it would be difficult to know the price for the new flights compared to the price of the booked flights on the incorrect day - they may have been the same, the other flight may have already been more expensive, maybe cheaper, hard to say now. Hundreds or thousands of people change their tickets on short notice every day, so although it is a traumatic event for your family member this is normal business for Southwest (and the other airlines). At least there isn't a change fee, so I hope that everyone had a successful travel and good luck if he chooses to reach out to Southwest for a follow up. I wouldn't be too optimistic, but if you don't ask the chances are zero.

That's cool! I guess I wouldn't call it a "partner airline" exactly, but I stand corrected about there being a way to book international travel with points. I wouldn't do that myself, the points are too valuable using companion pass, but I guess that might make sense for some people to redeem them in that way.

I went to the Soutwest ticket counter and to the baggage claim office, but they weren't able to reach someone who could go back and look for my phone. I've filed a report (1453478), but I have not yet gotten any new infomation. Does anyone know how long it would typically take to get more information on an item left behind on a plane? Is there a local lost and found office at LAX that I can call? It has not been easy to find phone numbers on the Southwest website. I was not able to get much information from calling the main customer line (1-800-435-9792) or customer relations. Thanks. Hopefully this was the first thing they said to do at the baggage office, or else call? https://live.nettracer.aero/southwest-paxview/lostandfound/landing.do Deplaning on a late flight like that, if the plane was being put to bed for the day then the lost and found crew would have it, and the phone won't be in Southwest's possession...the website is the way to have a search performed on the found items.

The card with an annual fee includes no foreign transaction fees - that's the only impact to international travel that I'm aware of. I haven't ever heard of Southwest having international partner airlines, although I've been flying Southwest for about ten years, I don't know if you are thinking of something earlier than 2008? Obviously in the past few years Southwest has expanded their own service to Central American destinations, but you wouldn't be able to fly them to Brasil or Argentina for example, and none to Asia or Europe. Edit: the responses below show that you can redeem points for flights.

Your friend probably mentioned NOT to fly out of SNA then if the climbing to altitude is nerve-wracking. Due to the residential areas around the airport they have to climb out of there pretty steep. Stick with LAX - 75,000,000 people per year, they must be doing something right there. However if you don't like crowds, SNA would be the way to go, other than the relatively steep take-off it's a very pleasant facility. Burbank is another interesting one - not as comfy as SNA, but smaller and easy to navigate. I haven't flown from Ontario in the LA metro. If LAX is convenient for you, stick with that.

It says “An adult traveling with a child six years old or younger may board during Family Boarding.” This caught me off guard because (as stated), I see whole families get on together all the time, and it seems to be largely allowed. It’s not uncommon to see one youngster, the parents, and their grandparents board during family boarding. Personal opinion moment: as much as I like SW boarding, this is one area that is not that great. If the policy were enforced as it reads, it could make family boarding difficult, even if sitting together is not important. Anyway - my situation is slightly difference because we usually pay for my ticket while my wife is my companion and my kid is a lap child. Kid boards with either of us, but I get to go pretty early since I am A List Preferred. So I usually save a seat, and either I care baby or she does...doesn’t matter. BUT, the kid just turned two which mean it’s gonna be more like this: I get priority boarding as ALP, wife as companion has a separate later boarding position, and kid booked on points has yet another boarding position. I think I’m this case, I will board in my position to save seats, and they will come on in family boarding. Not ideal, especially for the kid having her own reservation and spot. She clearly can’t board alone. All this may may be way more than you bargained for or needed, but I think it shows that it can be rather complex. You are right to do your research! I would simply recommend trying family boarding; I think as long as your kids are relative young (with at least one under 6), and you don’t have 10 people trying to board with one kid, you should be fine. You boarding and then them boarding works fine, and there will be plenty three-seat rows available at family boarding as well. I think the 737-800 changing tables are in the rear, and the -700's are in the front? So maybe it's a little more desirable to board early on -700 flights than for the -800's...but its been working out fine for us either way.

Two minutes before boarding time (when it was clear there was no plane for us), Southwest finally shared that our flight was delayed. They took our plane and diverted it Fort Lauderdale. The next flight would not be until two hours later. I know flights get delayed and that is not the issue. I am complaing about the timing. If there’s no plane two minutes before boarding, you know we aren’t going to leave on time. Please share this with your customer as early as possible. I do frequently try to find out where the plane is supposed to be coming from that I'll be boarding, and "stealth" track it in reverse for arrival at my airport to avoid situations like you are describing. This is easy when the flight is a "through" flight with the same flight number coming and going. For flight numbers that end and a new one is assigned, two things: Find out what flight is landing at your gate, that most likely is your airplane. If the flight was diverted as happened to you, or if it was more than an hour late, Southwest could potentially substitute a different plane that was available - in that case you may not want to wander too far from the gate as you won't be able to track it in the same way.

Yes, this would probably require the attendant stay with you and you may prefer to be alone, but it seems like it solves the issue regarding carrying bags. Would a wheeled carryon bag and a foldable stool also work? I'm unclear as to how you would be able to lift/maneuver any cart or baggage. --TheMiddleSeat I can imagine two scenarios: Someone injures themselves while having a chair on their own - that's no good! Retrieval of the chairs, or they end up stranded somewhere. For these two reasons I can see the airport policies evolving to keep an attendant with the chair. If you need the chair, then the attendant will come along with it until you are boarded. That seems to be how they want to do it? I wouldn't fight that policy unless it was disagreeable in some way.

The seat saving issue has been discussed quite a bit...but at least I can weigh in that you can have two adults with a kid for family boarding, so that part that you heard was not true about splitting up the parents. Family boarding works great as long as you already have gotten your gate check tag and are ready to board at the designated time. I wouldn't also get EBCI if you are planning on family boarding.

This reminds me of another activity that is discouraged, the other airlines will cancel tickets if they know you are doing this, I'm not sure what Southwest's opinion is: Buy one set of RT tickets from BWI to LAX, and buy a second seet of RT tickets from BOS to BWI, "nesting" the BWI-LAX round trip inside the BOS-BWI round trip. Then you could add the companion just to the BWI-LAX round trip ticket. The reservation system may not like this though. On Southwest it woulnd't normally affect pricing, they don't offer savings for RT vs separate one-way tickets like other airlines, but I think they still prefer you not to book this way, although it would be another way to solve the companion booking issue originally described above. I'd confirm if this was allowed or not before doing it, you don't want to jeapordize your status by violating the terms.

I don't know whether or not that is possible. You could buy two one way tickets. Unlike other airlines, Southwest does not price two one ways higher than one roundtrip. In fact the roundtrip price is the sum of the two one way prices. Hope that one of the two suggestions turns out to be helpful. I haven't had this problem before for day trips, but I also usually book two separate one-way flights most times. You could also go for EBCI which would automatically check you in, and which I believe would override the conflict.

Ex: I have to rebook my flight before 8/22/18, but I need to fly 8/24/18-8/26/18. If I book a flight that is before 8/22, can I then change my flight to the later dates and pay the fare difference? Not cancel it, but just change it. Will they say I can't because the funds expire, even thought I booked the dates to fly before it expired? I just hate that the funds would expire literally days before I need to use them. I don't fly much, so it's a shame. From what I have seen on here, SW doesn't seem to budge on extending, also, paying $100 to extend would literally defeat the purpose of extending since that's more than half the cost of the flight cost. (Hopefully that made sense?) I'm not quite sure I (or @dfwskier) followed: If you are asking can you book a trip with soon expiring travel funds and add new money that for a trip that is days before the expiration, then change the whole thing to be after the expiration, the answer is "no" - that old travel fund will expire prior to travel, and adding the new money to an old travel fund takes on the oldest expiration date when you cancel that flight. I haven't actually done this myself so I'm not sure - the payment for the reissuance of the voucher is $100 (at least we hear it is right now) and you get back $150 of voucher, then it's worth it as long as you'll use the voucher before that also eventually expires. At some point it isn't worth the time on the phone, but wherever you set that limit for yourself choose accordingly. It is possible to use your hack described above to combine multiple travel funds, so that you only pay the $100 once and get a combined voucher instead of several smaller ones, if that helps.
