I'm sorry to hear about your experience. The best explanation will come directly from SW. This is a customer community forum, so I recommend reaching out to SW via one of the Contact Us methods below. Thanks,

I'd reach out to the Twitter/social media team to see if you can get some more sent your way. Additionally, I believe that if you want to recognize employees and can get their name, flight number, etc., you can pass that to SW (again, the social media team is an easy way to do this), and they can ensure recognition happens. BUT...that doesn't feel as nice as when you get to hand them the actual Kick Tails! Good luck.

Same as @TheMiddleSeat -- I do not have any person experience with the referrals, but those points will count based on what I am reading on SW's site.

That is the beauty of SW -- if the flight you are changing to is the same point value, there is no cost to change! There are never change fees; the only time you would "pay" if the new flight is more expensive -- you would cover the difference. From the reservation in your Rapid Rewards account or from your conf. email, simply click Change and select the new flight(s). Happy and safe travels!

I think that Chase would be the best party to answer that to understand where those came from. That is a first for me! 🙂

That is ultimately up to SW. In my mind, I think that is reasonable to expect for you Companion even if they did not technically "pay" for the flight as they were inconvenienced. But that is my opinion on the matter. If you did not and want to inquire about more, you can reach out to SW directly via one of the Contact Us methods below. Good luck!

Unfortunately, SW's wifi and entertainment system is not the most reliable. The music is a p-art of that. I don't have any suggestions to improve, but I do recommend providing the feedback to SW directly via the Contact Us link below.

Can you say more about what you mean by this? I do not ever recall any "courtesy" points on a credit card. I HAVE received courtesy points from loyalty programs such as airline and hotel programs. In my experience with multiple credit card companies, courtesy points are not a tool they generally use with customers. Now if you are talking Rapid Rewards bonus points, that is a whole other story! There are many ways to get bonus points via credit card usage and flying.

Officially, here is what SW says about lap child IDs: "Bring a government-issued ID, such as a birth certificate or passport, for infants and toddlers flying as lap children." Do you have a photo of the birth certificate? We have always just used that instead of the actual document.

Officially, no. But there have been many reports of Companions getting priority boarding with the CP holder. I've experienced this myself. So unofficially, the answer seems to be yes! Ready for the day this change becomes official.

Demand seems to be really strong right now, and Southwest is wrapping up a big fare sale, so I am not surprised to read this. Availability can change at any time, of course. What timeframe are you looking in?

@chgoflyer: "you can absolutely set up account for your children" -- Let's updated that to SHOULD absolutely set up... 😁 I live by the rule of never, ever miss out on a rewards points of any kind. Restaurant, travel, doesn't matter. Setting up my daughters' Rapid Rewards accounts was a proud/fun moment for me. Happy travels!

@TheMiddleSeatThis BNA "Expert" is late to the party, but @bec102896 pretty much covered it. I too dislike layovers that short -- they stress me out, BUT I will say there is nothing better than the first flight coming in early enough where you have time to make it to your second gate and immediately line up for boarding. It is efficient, but there are potential variables. The good news is that taxi time at BNA is really low. The runway that is furthest from the terminal is currently closed, so that helps. Regardless, as @bec102896 said, the airport is not that large, and this connection time is totally doable. We would love to hear your experience, @aijones0515!

I wish I could give you the why, but at this point, all we have is what is on the website: "service will resume at a later date." If it would make you feel better, you might decide to choose another airline and save your travel funds for another SW trip.

This is a legal issue and not a SW one. My personal solution: I aim for exit row seats as a A Lister (Preferred). Pre-boarders can't sit in the exit row. Works for me. Otherwise, I give the benefit of the doubt. My grandmother used to look perfectly healthy and able, but she had a significant vision issue. The extra time was helpful for her -- as it is for countless others with invisible challenges.

@feaco Thanks for taking time to share. As a former frequent business traveler, I too appreciate the generosity with CP and ALP. My travel is starting to pick back up, so here's to hoping I somehow keep CP; I'll be lucky to re-make AL. 🙂

Here is what the SW site says: "Please keep in mind that Southwest Employees may ask for age verification at any point within the Customer journey, so Customers should travel with a copy or original of any government-issued ID, such as a birth certificate or passport, for their Lap Child." They do only use the docs to verify birthdate, but if I were you, I would try and carry a birth certificate. The physical paper of a copy or photo of it will do, and we have always used the hospital ones -- not even the official ones from the government office. I imagine that they would accept a shot record if it has the birthdate, but given the guidelines above, I would not bank on it.

@mejohnso, BNA is my home airport, and it has been going through quite the overhaul over the past few years. I'll say this: the food options used to be pretty lackluster, and the airport secured a new vendor to work with local Nashville eateries to expand the airport dining selections. That remains a work in progress, so there are some new places today, but in the future, it will be pretty awesome! Also that means that most places have been closed either due to the pandemic or due to construction (BN, Auntie Anne's, pizza, etc. -- all closed). Glad you got to experience the new terminal D as well -- it is beautiful! But if you want to eat, you do have to venture to other parts of the airport, at least for now. You can get coffee and beef there, but that is about it. Today, your best bets are 400 Degrees, serving Nashville hot chicken, and Barista Parlor, serving coffee and sandwiches and pastries. 8th and Roast is good for coffee, and there are a few brewery options as well if you want a beer. Beyond that, we wait for what is to be a much more diverse selection in the future. Please come back and visit! Thanks for the tags, @TheMiddleSeat @ksbrg @bec102896!

I am not confirming that there was an actual across-the-board "devaluation;" that said, the travel blogs and media are reporting that reward travel now requires about 6% more points to book. So that means for you, you have "lost" the value of about 12,600ish points at the old value. While I am absolutely not a fan of without-notice devaluations, I have to say that if this is one of the few changes that comes out of the trying times of the pandemic...I'll take it.

It is not definitively stated, but I agree that unless your bag is overweight, I don't think anyone would ever check. I have NEVER had a Southwest employee measure my bag at check in. Officially the policy states: "Southwest will accept the first two checked bags for free provided that the bags do not exceed 50 lbs and 62 inches (L+W+H)." I feel very confident that as long as your bag is not obviously way over that size or overweight that you will not have any issues. You could always reach out to SW at the Contact Us link below to see if you could get more info.

I do not have that experience there, but I have noticed that things can get dicey at Southwest-heavy airports. For example, pre-COVID, I always expected to wait longer at HOU for my bags that I might elsewhere. There were a couple of reasons (from my view): We would always be flying in on a Friday night (busy). I could not begin to tell you how many flights would be coming in right around the same time, putting pressure on the crews. Of course, the airline no doubt tries to plan for this, but if there are delays involved, sometimes the number of arrivals can skyrocket at any given moment. I have only ever grabbed a checked bag from BWI maybe once, and I remember the wait being reasonable. There might be others here who have more extensive experience specifically with that airport.

According to SW's site: "Two adults traveling with a child six years old or younger may board during Family Boarding, which occurs after the “A” group has boarded and before the “B” group begins boarding. If the child and the adult are both holding an “A” boarding pass, they should board in their assigned boarding position." The challenge lies in the fact that families often do not fit this mold. Ex: What happens if you have a three year old, an 8 year old, and two parents? Most gate agents are not going to separate the family to board separately; they will allow them to board together during family boarding. I do get where you are coming from. If you have a family of seven, for example, where most of the kids are beyond the family boarding age, it can be frustrating. Ultimately, it is up to the gate agent who is boarding the plane.
