This is indeed a terrible situation, and I am glad that the major airines have tightened their emotional support animals policies. Given that this happened on another airline, I would hope that no one on SW would ever have am experience like this. And if they happen to, I am confident that the SW folks would go above and beyond to remedy the situation .

@elijahbrantley $80 savings not bad. My personal travel best (non group) was a TPA DAL RT where fares went from $145 each way $290 RT to $49 each way so a nice savings of $192

I've included some info in red after each of your questions, hopefully it helps. Reply if you have additional questions, and good luck on earning CP. @tparrent wrote: I currently have almost 94,000 RR points this year and they all show up as Companion Pass qualifying points.I would like to receive the Companion Pass status but some of the rules confuse me and I am finding it difficult to calculate exactly what I need by year end. I have a Southwest credit card that I use very frequently. I read that there is a limit of 15,000 qualifying points in a year from the card but I have not found any information on how to look up information on where I am relative to that limit (I assume I am over it) The 15,000 point limit is related to A-List qualifying points, not CP. There is no cap on CP qualifying points. Spend $1, get 1 CP qualifying RR point. I still have at least 9 one way flights booked this year but cannot tell how many qualifying points they will generate. The amount of RR points earned from flying depends on what ticket type you booked. Wanna Get Away = 6x fare Anytime = 10x fare Business Select = 12x fare You may want to upgrade your remaining flights to Business Select to earn more CP qualifying points. I am one flight away from A List qualification. Will subsequent flights that are already booked receive the A List extra points? Do those extra points count towards Companion Pass qualification? Yes, you should get the extra bonus points for being A-List, but they do not count towards CP. Would buying Southwest gift cards move me closer to qualification? What if I am already above the credit card annual 15,000 point limit? I fly Southwest nearly every week so I would certainly use the gift cards next year. There's nothing special when it comes to earning points about buying Southwest gift cards. Each dollar spent on a Southwest credit card is a Companion Pass qualifying point. Buy gift cards or groceries or gas or anything else you want. If I upgrade some of my Wanna Get Away fares that I have already booked through year end, will I get additional credit towards Companion Pass? Yes, as noted earlier. I seem to recall that any charges to my Southwest card will only count as of the billing cycle posting date which will be in early December. Subsequent purchases will not then count towards qualification, right? (Assuming I have room under the annual cap) Points earned from credit card spend post shortly after your statement closes so the statement that closes in December will be the last points that post for 2018. I've heard some people say you can call to adjust your statement closing date, but I don't have any experience with that. Dont' spend on December 30 and think you'll get those points credited towards 2018 CP qualification. And again, there is no CP annual cap. As qualifying for Companion Pass is going to be a close call (but very valuable for me), I want to make sure I take whatever action I need in time for it to matter. It would even be worth it for me to take a couple extra flights to wherever if that put me over the top but I would want to make sure that those flights did put me over. With a little time left you can still find some other creative options such as utilizing the Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping portal, https://rapidrewardsshopping.southwest.com/ Most, but not all points earned through the shopping site qualify for CP. Beware of "bonus" points, they typically do not qualify. Sending flowers to someone is a popular earning method. You could also book and complete a hotel stay via the Southwest hotels link. Some hotels offer several thousand points per night and those do count towards CP. You must complete the stay this year, not just book it. If you're down to the last 2 weeks of December and still short then it's probably time to hop on a plane and do some mileage runs. Thanks for answers and suggestions! Good luck! --TheMiddleSeat

Hey Gary, Unfortunately you can’t update this on your profile ! 😞 But on the traveler information page when you book your flight online or on the phone when you’re booking you can enter that you need wheelchair assistance

Also the Southwest App does not allow multiple profiles on their app so I have to enter my wife’s name, birthday, RR number and KTN after I make a reservation for us using the app. It’s very frustrating and behind the other (UAL, Delta) apps. when I complained they didn’t understand me and said everyone has to have their own RR account. 😂 on my United app, I can create multiple profiles (with separate frequent flier and known traveler numbers) within the app, then when I make a reservation, I just pick the person or people who are coming on the trip. 90% of the time my wife and I fly together, do they really expect both of us to individually use the app to make an individual reservation when we fly together? That is double work and we would have different confirmation numbers. so I agree with your plea for Southwest to update their app. They are already the best airline, they should have an app that is on par with their flights.

Credit card points close within a day or two of statement closing date. Another good way to earn points, if you don’t already, is to use rapid rewards shopping. These points don’t post right away but it is a great way to earn points. Also rapid rewards dining.

Hmm this is not working for me. We just checked into a flight and my RR number is definitely associated and I am on the app. It is a domestic only flight. I can see the flight in the app with my group and position, but I cannot access my mobile boarding pass. It says to "visit a kiosk or ticket counter for your boarding passes, or print them by visiting Southwest.com on a desktop." Am I doing something wrong?

@Messmertc wrote: My wife too is my companion pass and I never save the seat for her. 99% of the time it is still vacant when she boards and if we need to be apart for 4 hours, so be it. This “saving of stats” example was the remainder of the entire row by spreading stuff all over those seats to sent a message. The flight attendant is an employee of SW. it’s like people bringing on three bags. It’s either a rule or a suggestion. An unenforced policy is just a suggestion You are exactly right - and nowhere on the site will you find a reference to seat saving, it is a suggestion and not a policy. Personally I have no problem saving a middle seat for my wife. It's more complicated now that our daughter is no longer a lap child, so we usually take family boarding and whatever we can get at that time but sometimes I'm pressured to board with my A-number and hold spots for the ladies.

The main exception is if you gate check something, especially baby gear that you may want to have inside the connection airport you can choose to have it brought up at the gate, and then check it back at the gain again when you re-board the next leg. I think luggage that you gate check - for instance due to absence of overhead space, they will send through to the ultimate destination.

Thanks for the info when there’s an emergency it’s hard to think of every detail but I actually did try to cancel online and it kept telling me an error had occurred and the third time it stated rather than a refund it is giving credit for future travel which I do not want. I paid thru PayPal and have since reached out to them also.

As stated, it's generally best on Southwest to book one-way flights. 😉 If you have booked a round-trip, you can change online either leg without affecting the other leg. The exception is if you're trying to change the return after flying the outbound, which would require a call to customer service. Online, you can only cancel an entire itinerary. In order to cancel only one leg you would need to call.

@gmorwalk We certainly do! Next time you're at the airport, you can request a "past-dated" certificate. Whether or not they have wings is just dependent on the station supply. Hope that helps!

I don't think Southwest is attempting to deceive anyone, but I agree that the link is easy to overlook. I'd suggest you contact Southwest directly so that your concern can be recorded, perhaps they'll consider making it more obvious. Note: If you just recently booked a flight (within the last 24 hours) and did not add your travel funds, you can cancel for a full refund and rebook, using the travel funds this time.

I feel extremely confident that there would not be an exception made for the referral. The fine print of Chase's site says: "Submitting email addresses: You may submit up to 25 email addresses in a 24 hour period (each 24 hour period is defined as 12:00am-11:59pm CT). By referring friends you agree to allow us to send an email on your behalf inviting them to apply for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card. Your friends’ email addresses will only be used for this offer and will not be used for any other marketing solicitations or sold to third parties. If your friend already has a Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card account or your friend’s email address is in our email opt-out database, no email will be sent." I highlighted and bolded the part that seems to apply to your situation. With that said, given that this is a SW customer forum, you would need to reach out to Chase for final word.

@Wheelsup wrote: I have flown 25 segments last year and will complete 25 this year soon. Now you give A list for four segments. I feel ripped off. I bet a lot of A listers feel the sameway. It makes the perk less valuable in my eyes. And you don’t offer this perk to me. This does not promote loyalty to SWA. You don't need the offer, you already have it from last year, and are already on target for this year? It's a good strategy to entice people that they for some reason believe are frequent flyers or will become frequent flyers. Although unpublished, I have a guess that A-list positions are assigned in some combation of A-list "seniority", date of purchase, and other factors so that you may still be positioned ahead of these folks. The number of people getting (and using) the promotion is going to be very small compared to the existing body of A-listers...this doesn't bother me, and it will only make the airline stronger by adding more regular passengers.

I would go back to your confirmation email and see if your RR number is on the reservation as there are times it may jump off especially if you make the reservation over the phone if it says join or add number under the RR then you would need to request past flight points after 48 hours of your flight completion as @franktravel stated. If you are booked on a RT flight all travel must be complete before points will post to your account if you need further assistance just let me know Blake

@hmkorn wrote: I received a notice that my flight was cancelled as I was in the car heading to the airport. Contacted Southwest and was told it was a maintenance issue and they would rebook on the next flight. However, when they rebooked, my boarding position went from A to C for both the new flight and the new connecting flight, and they said they couldn't do anything about that. It seems they should offer an A1-15 at no charge or at least allow me to board when the families board after the A group. They said I would have to address this with the ticket agent at the airport. By then there could be dozens of others trying to do the same thing. Just as the others said, the A positions are already assigned A16-A60. They won't give out the A1-15 spots since those are for business select that pay a much higher ticket price, or pay for the extra position. As was mentioned, and when you talk about "dozens" of others going for the same thing - some number of each of those dozen will already be A-list customers who had the A16-A60 numbers on your canceled flight - they will board at "A61" exactly as you described without taking any other action. If you had an A-number on the previous flight you could ask the gate agent about boarding A61 also.
