Unfortunately, it's not working again (reportedly due to a recent change to the new booking system). You'll need to call and have it added manually. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

If I have a round trip ticket and I need to change only the return portion, which would be more convenient (for the use of the travel funds): make a change in the trip or cancel the whole thing and re-book? I know the price would make a difference but what I want to know is which would be more convenient in order to be able to use the Travel Funds. Thanks for your input. If you've bought EarlyBird Check-In, change don't cancel -- changing will retain that (cancelling would cause you to lose it). And, assuming this is a Wanna Get Away fare, there's no downside to changing vs cancelling & rebooking (like there is with "refundable" fares, where changing causes you to lose the refundability). Otherwise, there's no difference really. Either option will give you Travel Funds, good for the original passenger only, which expire one year from the date of the original purchase. Keep in mind that when you apply those funds to a new booking, that new booking will take on the expiration date of the funds applied.

Sorry you failed to qualify. It only takes 25 one-way paid flights to qualify for A-List. Sounds like you are including flights booked with points? Unfortunately those do not qualify. Many people who find themselves very close near the end of the year will do what is called a segment run, taking short cheap trips just to qualify. You might want to consider that, along with making sure you completely understand the terms and conditions, if you want to try for status again. Good luck!

Technically, no -- only the "base" partner points count for CP qualification, bonus points do not. That said, people are reporting that all points earned on hotel bookings made on the Southwest website are currently showing up as CP qualifying. So probably yes, but if they do not (per the CP terms) there's no recourse. (You will still have the points in your account to spend, of course.) Good luck!

Gate agents have discretion in this area. But IMHO, unless you are an A-LIster, it's gotten harder since the introduction of that benefit to get standby on Southwest without paying the fare difference. One notable exception is if your originally scheduled flight is showing a delay. (And, that threshold used to be 30 minutes, but I'm finding 30 minute delays are so common now that you need an hour or so delay to be allowed standby on an earlier flight). Whether this is a result of the new policy granting the benefit to A-Listers, or because flights are often completely full these days I'm not sure. I'm usually immediately asked if I am an A-Lister (or bought a BS or AT ticket), or told that the flight is full.

I can not find a direct flight, so I was wondering if I requested the escort assistance then someone would make sure she would get to her gate for the connecting flight. We love southwest and prefer only flying with them. Stephanie Stewart Unfortunately, Southwest doesn't offer any escort service once past age 11. Unaccompanied Minor service ($50 each way, domestic non-stop or direct only) is offered for children ages 5-11, and it includes monitoring on the plane and escorting until pickup by an approved person at the destination. Young Traveler service (no charge, domestic only) is offered for children age 12-17, but it doesn't offer anything -- no escorting or monitoring. It's really just the term Southwest uses to refer to children 12-17 traveling alone. If you're worried about your daughter navigating the airport alone, you may want to check with other carriers, who offer UM service to older children... but fees are often much higher. Delta ($150) is ages 5-14, (required) and up to age 17 (if requested), United and American are both ($150), ages 5-14.

It's important to understand that, despite some marketing to the contrary, EarlyBird Check-In doesn't actually guarantee anything except automatic check-in. Southwest has "open seating," meaning that there are no "better seats" that can be "paid for." With EBCI you're paying for automatic check in, with the hope (but not guarantee) that you will receive a low boarding number, and have a better chance of selecting your preferred seat.

I'm not seeing any other reports of this being a widespread issue. (Not since the systems problem discussed earlier.) 1) Did you book or make a change less than 36 hours out? 2) Does you BP say "A-LIst" on it? 3) If not, contact Southwest to check that your status is attached to all future flights, as it may have been dropped from this one ("glitch"). Good luck.

Most flights now have EBCI passengers that stretch at least into the high As, and often low Bs. "I bought EBCI but received a B-XX position" is becoming a common complaint. Southwest earned nearly $400 million on EBCI fees alone in 2017.

Thanks for the info. FYI: Southwest's systems will not populate a KTN to any existing itineraries if added to your profile after flights are booked. You'll need to either manually add them to each flight yourself or call to have them added. Southwest's systems will populate your KTN to any future itineraries. If for some reason you don't receive PreCheck, ("glitch"), a phone rep can double-check that the KTN was attached to the itinerary, and add it if necessary without you losing your boarding position -- you can't do that yourself once checked in.

1) Did your boarding pass say "EarlyBird Check-In" on it? It's possible that EBCI dropped off your itinerary ("glitch"). If so, you should contact Southwest and request a refund. 2) If it does say EBCI on your BP: EBCI positions are assigned based on order of purchase, so those who purchased well in advance receive better positions than those who buy closer to the flight.

Either 1) Those fares no longer exist (despite showing up in an initial search, they've actually been sold to someone else -- unfortunately that's just how the Southwest website works); or 2) glitch. Try calling (1-800-435-9792). If the rep can see the fares they may be able to rebook you. Alternately, you can cancel for a full refund since it's been less than 24 hours, and then rebook at the new lower fare (if available). I'm not positive if you'll receive a refund of EarlyBird Check-In however, so if you've bought that as well it would be better to call. Good luck.

(Assuming your daughter is not disabled...) Short answer: Probably, but no guarantee. Check in at the full-service desk at the airport (allow plenty of time) and explain your request, and I suspect they will grant you the gate pass. Southwest policy grants them for Unaccompanied Minors, but that ends at age 11, so that won't apply here. Unless TSA has advised to not give passes (occasionally due to lengthy wait times or other checkpoint issues) the Southwest rep will probably accommodate your request. Good luck!

To be completely clear: Reports are that members are receiving the double points even for flights that were booked prior to registering, as long as they were booked within the validity period, and registration took place before travel. They absolutely will not count if they were booked prior to April 6. For flights booked prior to April 6 to be eligible to receive double-points, you will need to cancel and rebook. (Note that doing so will forfeit EarlyBird Check-In if purchased, and rebooking will be at the now-current available fare.)

C positions with EBCI are rare, but they do happen. When did you purchase EBCI? Positions are assigned based on order of purchase. Also, double-check that your boarding pass actually says "EarlyBird Check-In" on it, as it may have dropped off due to an infamous Southwest "glitch." If it's not indicated on your boarding pass, you are due a refund of the fee.

You might want to check any existing reservations to make sure your KTN is attached. On the regular Southwest website, adding a KTN to your profile doesn't auto-populate it to existing reservations, just new ones made after it's added.

Your experience points out the importance of carefully double-checking the email confirmation received immediately after booking. All flights can be canceled without penalty within 24 hours of purchase. Southwest also sends subsequent reminders. If the mistake had been noticed earlier, you would have avoided the loss of the funds following a no-show. Sorry you learned this all the hard way.
