If you do reach out to SWA, be more specific on what opportunities you are looking for. Those who come across as willing to take any position many times gain the perception of one who is always looking for the next opportunity. Hiring new employees is a financial investment for the company, and should not be taken lightly. If I was the recruiter, I would want to hire someone who has integrity and is genuine with set goals.

According to SWA’s FAQ page: I was unable to apply before the position closed. Is there anything I can do? Unfortunately not. In order to remain consistent in our hiring practices and to be fair to all applicants, we are unable to accept a resume after a position has closed. We accept applications for a specific position, and only when the job listing is active on our Careers page Continue to check careers.southwestair.com for the next posting and/or sign up for a job alert on any job description page.

Generally large companies empower their recruiters to make the decision on employment. After all, they are the subject matter experts who spent the most time with you. Professional roles is the only exception to this. After a few rounds of interviews, usually the hiring manager makes the final decision on who to extend the offer to.

The initial interview unfortunately is your “make it or break it” time with recruiters. I often think that since many people are not good at interviewing, but awesome in the work place, the interview should not be the decision maker. Continue to be positive, and do your research. When you come in for an interview as the model employee, tables are turned and it’s you who is interviewing the recruiters. They need to convince you on why you should want to work for their company.

I’m not able to pull up your cover letter, so maybe it was taken down? I will tell you that cover letters are still important when applying for a job. Many large companies still expect to see one attached to your resume. Think of the cover letter as the introduction of your story to your potential employer. Make it short and sweet. Good luck to you!

SWA might have placed restrictions on their FA's with helping out... for liability reasons? The attitude that was given is another issue. Sorry about your experience.

I would be surprised if they did not cover the cost of parking at their base. When on layover, the crew gets shuttled to their hotel by the airline and is paid per diem the entire time. Why would they not pay for employee parking?

@Jordyn4life I'm sure you can imagine the number of applicants SW receives. It does take time to go through the process. The good news is that you have not received an update to your dashboard saying closed and complete. Good luck to you!

Since you claim your bag was stolen, did you file a police report? I'm not sure how this is SWA's fault? I think it was a nice gesture to offer you $75.00 for theft that the airline was not at fault for. The great customer service SWA delivers is exactly why the Fortune 500 company I work for has SWA as an approved airline.
