I have recently received a response from Southwest Airlines on Extending my travel funds. Here is my screen shot of my "messenger" conversation. My flight was booked in November 2019 and canceled in March and I will get an extension to June 2021. Suggest all Instant messenger via Facebook. They usually respond quickly

I think in order to get results I am going to email NY Times News and let them know how Southwest and Southwest Vacations is not helping get refunds on packages booked with them. If everyone writes to the news station, newspapers , CNN or anyone that will listen maybe we can get results. I want my money back from Apple Leisure Group and Southwest Vacations for my hotel that I did not stay in. Here's the email you can send to NY times. nytnews@nytimes.com

I would advise everyone that Southwest Vacations still does not assist in any way if you booked online a Southwest Air and hotel package. Although the hotel I booked with told me that they did not charge me, Southwest Vacations still has my $633.08 because I paid in full at time of booking. I am trying to put a dispute with my credit card company since I canceled my trip the minute Dr. Fauci went in Television and stated if it is not an urgent matter and you have immune deficiencies or illness like cancer, then DO NOT TRAVEL! My husband has both MS and blood cancer! I canceled on March 13th via online for Travel on March 17-21. No one would answer my call at SW Vacation number and was on hold for a total of 4 hours in 2 days. Then when I did get a call back they told me I needed to call another number, which then connected me right back to the same number!! I have called both Southwest Vacations / Apple Leisure Group left 2 messages and written a letter but still no response. They keep on ignoring me and I cannot get my money back to my card.

@dfwskier @I personally don’t want a refund, I just want a longer expiration date-period. others who do not have a salary coming in it is understandably logical they need money back to pay bills They should because they are ill or out of a job Bur for me it’s just extending my date because I Will use it .

@halinphilly I wrote 2 letters to corporate office, one to Gary Kelly and other to VP marketing hoping they’d do the right thing. if we all keep posting on EVERY SOCIAL Media outlet especially Twitter and LinkedIn maybe they’ll respond keep posting and writing. Don’t give up. Many of us are in similar situations and it’s very frustrating that they have let us down. They’ll suffer later when they loose all of us as loyal customers

@SWDigits Is there a way SW can extend travel cancelled in March but booked in November for June 2021 due to this issue? My travel funds will expire November 10, 2020 on our accounts I booked my flight in November 2019 for flying on March 17-21, 2020. I canceled my trip in March 13, 2020 after Dr. Fauci's televised announcement not to fly. Therefore I should have a June 2021 expiration date for my funds. I do not want to pay an extra $100 each change fee for our tickets.

THANK YOU. I see SW Airlines is working hard and it is greatly appreciated. I booked my flight on SouthwestVacations.com on November 10 for Travel dates of March 17-21. As I am reading your new post, I see that extended date to June 2021 does not pertain to me. Will this change? Or am I reading this wrong? Will you just extend all travel dates? Mid March is month when we were advised on concerns to travel. Especially due to my husbands health concerns. In recognition of the current travel environment, we are extending the expiration date of some travel funds: Customers’ funds that have expired or will expire between March 1-May 31, 2020, will now expire June 30, 2021 Any newly created travel fund because of a flight cancellation between March 1-May 31, 2020, will have an expiration date of June 30, 2021 I still have not been credited $663 through the ALG https://www.appleleisuregroup.com for a hotel stay which was cancelled. Thank you Joanne

I am having a similar issue. Southwest needs to adjust the policy due to virus outbreak. They will only give it one year from purchase date! This virus can go on for a year, I sent a letter to CEO Mr. Kelly and also to VP Marketing that they need to waive expiration dates and let everybody use funds when needed. If we all band together maybe they will listen Send a 2 letters to corporate Southwest Airlines 2702 Love Field Drive Dallas, TX 75235 one attention Ryan Green SVP & Chief Marketing Officer other CEO Gary Kelly

This has nothing to do with it. I had booked a vacation package and am aware of fare refund policy on Wanna Get Away fares-but given the circumstances it is different situation. There should be NO expiration date at this time. According to CDC and Dr. Fauci NIH director this may last up to 18 months or more. Therefore Southwest will keep my money. They should at this time not give us an expiration date or refund our money. I personally am not getting a bailout by the government, but SW airlines will. I plan on rebooking but cannot rebook if there is a threat to my husbands health. My travel date was March 17 and I should be able to use my funds. This is unfair since it is NOT my doing I have had to cancel flight-It is a PANDEMIC not under my control. They should not give an expiration date.

Dear Southwest Airlines My experience with this situation I am about to tell you has been nothing but frustrating as a dedicated Southwest Customer for many years. I am writing to you today to request that all my travel funds are returned to my credit card for my recent flights which needed to be canceled due to pandemic of COVID-19. Regardless of being booked as a Wanna Get Away fare or not we were left a choice but to cancel our trip. My husband who has a low immune system due to a rare blood cancer and Multiple Sclerosis was advised to cancel our trip by medical professionals, plus the government suggestion by Anthony Fauci, Director of National Institute of Health stating we should not travel at all if not urgent or immune system low. As of today March 19th 2020, the government is estimating this Coronavirus will continue to last for at least up to 18 months or more. In that time, I cannot use my travel funds since it will have expired and I will be out $525.00 since we will be unable to fly to ANY destination by the expiration date. It is truly wrong of Southwest to not refund my card with these funds or at least keep my funds in my account with no expiration date since I will use them, but cannot use them until this COVID-19 is no longer a threat and we are okay to travel. I am very upset that this is not being taken to heart with customers who canceled after the breakout of the virus. I will be writing a formal complaint requesting this, but Southwest needs to change the policy on Wanna Get Away fare travel funds until this COVID-19 virus is contained properly and we are advised it is safe to travel.
