I would like to request that Southwest Airlines consider extending Companion Pass benefits yet again due to the extended nature of the pandemic and various travel restrictions around the country. My scenario is probably similar to a lot of others. I earned Companion Pass for 2020, a perk that I very much doubt I'll have the luxury of earning ever again. It was an exciting benefit to earn, and my girlfriend and I had plans to use it at least a half dozen times this year. But then COVID hit, and we haven't been able to use it even once. I'm having increasing doubts that even the 6 month extension granted through June 2021 will be sufficient. As such, in consideration of the investment required by a customer to earn Companion Pass, and the nature of this pandemic and the travel restrictions created throughout the country, I ask that Southwest Airlines allow unused 2020 Companion Passes to be redeemed for either a full year 2021 Companion Pass, or Rapid Rewards Points up to the equivalent of 6 cross-country flights, dependent on how many times the member used their 2020 Companion Pass between April 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. While it would be impossible to make everyone whole who lost out on their Companion Pass usage because of COVID, this would go a long way towards helping out your customers who lost out on usage of the benefit through no fault of their own, while helping keep your customers loyal to this brand.
