Keep in mind that while Southwest may call people age 12-17 young travelers, there is no actual difference in how they are treated as compared to a 50 year old customer. There is no additional information required and no special treatment such as a Southwest employee escort. As the parent, you should be able to obtain a gate pass to accompany the traveler through security to the gate, but that's about the only difference between a 13 year old traveling and a 50 year old traveling. All cutoff times and such are the same as an adult traveler. If you have further questions, please clarify the age of the child who is traveling. --TheMiddleSeat
