Good for you. However, it only works when the staff agree to this side of the policy. They love to look like heroes to the person who they approve of first. Just like Nicki on my last flight. She was adamant to allow the person to save the exit row seats. Really; exit row seats. That’s BS.

I was on 4 flights this past week and it is becoming a problem when flight attendants and pilots are not on the same page regarding seat saving. They all need to agree on the policy set forth by SWA or SWA needs to grow a pair and pick a side to the policy. I personally feel seat saving is wrong. People with status have access to better seats. People who pay for early bird checkin have access to better seats. Is it fair someone saves seats for others who don’t have this access? Buy them early bird check in so they can get a better assignment number. It continues to be frustrating when YOU pick a seat and are told it is ok for someone to save that seat when it is open seating on the flight. First come, first serve doesn’t mean first come, save all the good seats for your friends/families. If you want to sit together, fly another airline to guarantee your seats.
Every flight I am on has different policies. Training needs to be done for all in flight employees so they know how to handle this. It isn’t professional when the staff gang up on a passenger who has the right to sit where they want if there is no BODY IN THE SEAT.
Examples include:
1. last flight the other day - passenger saved exit row seat for friend boarding in group B. Flight attendant allowed passenger to hold the seat for her friend. Can you save seats and why exit row seats?
2. Flight last Thursday - passenger was saving a seat for wife who wasn’t A lost in front row. Flight attendants told him seat saving isn’t allowed. 3. Business class boarding passenger sat in middle row of the extra leg room exit row. Passenger wanted to sit in the row but he said the seats were saved for his family. Flight attendant allowed passenger to sit there which caused an uproar with seat saver. Attendant asked passenger to save seats in a non-exit row for the family.
