I fly Southwest routinely as a part of my job. The article about Lisa Tiller in the SOUTHWEST STAR OF THE MONTH September edition was inspiring to me. We have a lot of focus on leadership and providing great customer service at my company. One of the core values in leadership is trust. I love Lisa's motto; "They don't care what you know, until they know that you care." She relates this to teaching, but I can find a million ways to relate it to my staff, peers, customers, and just about every other thing in life. I remember the first time I saw you; I could not get over how amazing you looked with your beautiful blue eyes, blond hair, perfect teeth and most impressive smile. I knew that instant you were something special and probably too good for me. But we kept having "chance" meetings at work and got to know one another just enough for me to work up the courage to ask you out. It was the perfect date, great food and atmosphere and the connection. Oh the connection, I really thought you were just telling me what I wanted to hear. But it is difficult to hold a charade for 6 hours of intense conversation. The next day I called my family and told them I had found the woman I was going to marry. Less that a year later we married at the courthouse so I could use the flight benefits to fly with you to Chicago on your way to Japan without me. I never felt any doubts, never any fear or regrets I just knew it was what I wanted and need more than anything else in my life. I feel blessed everyday to be with you, and the company you have the privilege to work for. How you have made my life that was so empty into something so wonderful and rich is a blessing.
