That has to be one of the BEST articles I have ever read. It paints us as not perfect but when we're not we do our best to apologize. Can you say the rest for the other airlines? I'm so proud to be a part of LUV!

I have heard a smiliar complaint recently by another one of our passengers on a flight. Why not allow RR members to use their RR tickets on a flight that may not go out full? Let them sit standby!!! :-)

Um...Leno is the one that isn't funny. Letterman is more of a sarcastic dry wit and I actually find Conan hilarious in a self-effacing nerdy way.
Oh, and I'm glad I work for WN and we had delays the other day and I KNOW our PAX were much happier than on jetBlew-It since they told me as much!

I had the pleasure of being in Denver the other day and was in the van with three flight attendants from a certain Atlanta, GA based legacy airline. Being friendly I was asking them questions i.e. where they were going, what equipment they were on...and length of overnight.
The proceeded to rip into their company because of their contract, the fact they don't have a union, and their overall work rules.
I have never heard an employee talk so bad about their employer!
I know things haven't gone well there but they had very low morale and it was cringe-inducing, especially since there were possible customers in the van with us.
It makes me feel better that we have what we have here at SWA and that we are treated so well!

Maybe I'm biased because I'm fromt here but personally I'm particular to PDX as a gorgeous airport. Especially D & C terminals. C is the newer of the two and incorporated some design elements but it really is an amazingly beautiful concourse and airport. 🙂

Any chance of a link to that logo? It was cute!
One thing aside...it was too bad the weather was awful around the country yesterday. We smiled extra big for our PAX because we were late (microbursts in PHX). WHY on V-DAY though? 😞 Murhphy's Law was in effect, I guess! 😉

For Rob:
If the amount of tickets being sold support adding flights back into MSY then WN won't add the a/c when they can be used better in other markets. WN does support MSY but it is a business, after all.

We weren't expecting to announce a city in 2007. I wonder if Virgin America's attempt to fly out of SFO has anything to do with this announcement? 🙂

I know that I, on a regular basis, make comments about how fortunate we are to have these amazing leaders. They are human, so they are not perfect. However they strive to be the best they can be and they should be seen as true role models and inspiration to all of us Warriors!

This is in response to FEC...it is unfair for a passenger to take up part of another customer's seat. I have personally been the person in the middle seat next to somebody that is overweight and I had to have their girth touching me the entire flight (this was not on Southwest) and it was unpleasant.
Not only is it about comfort, it is about safety. The armrests need to be down for take-off and landing.
The "COS" policy applies to those passengers who cannot lower the armrest completely. I have never seen somebody with shoulders so broad that they would have invaded another customer's seat area.
Also, Southwest will refund the cost of the extra seat ticket purchse (usually a very discounted fare itself) if the flight is not full. I think SWA does a pretty darn fair job. We flight attendants go to great lengths to be discreet about seat belt extenders and COS "seat reserved" documents.
I hope you reconsider your decision to fly with SWA.

I am a BWI based flight attendant from PDX. I MUST agree with your review of the food next to our gates.
Pizza Schimizza: Genoa is the best, and the greek salad IS delicious.
Coffee People: Forget Starbucks! This coffee is superior in all ways except the fact it isn't available (except of course online) outside Oregon & California.
I HIGHLY recommend a "Mocha Shake w/Human Being Espresso (their organic espresso)" made "extra thick". It is has chocolate ice cream, some milk, and the wonderful espresso. If you're in a warm mood, the Velvet Hammer is mexican chocolate instead of a regular chocolate and it is velvety smooth! I get one with soy milk and the above mentioned Human Being Espresso.
Coffee People is truly a delight, and for me, a VERY good excuse to fly all the way from BWI to PDX. Yes, I've done it. No, I'm not insane. Just crazy for Coffee People!!! 😄

I had the pleasure of being on N256WN about 3 days after it entered service. That smell is so strong you can smell it at the top of the jetway! I even made an announcement to the passengers that they were on the newest plane in our fleet (and to try to keep it new as long as possible!). 🙂

As a BWI-based flight attendant, I am very paticular to the California Tortilla that is in our wonderful new terminal. A close second is the Pappasitos at the Houston-Hobby Airport. But nothing can beat Tampa or St. Louis. They both have Starbucks and a Chili's To-Go. Plus, STL has a California Pizza Kitchen. 🙂

Kim- your comment on the stock reminds me of my credit report. I was told that even though now as a responsible adult I've been making my car payment on time for over a year now I still have a very old debt on my record. They keep looking at that bad debt instead of what I have been doing recently.
It makes NO sense to me why LUV is at $16+ when those awful other airlines (which I get complaints about...most recently out of PIT) are making waaaay more than we are.
I really, REALLY hate the stock market. 😞

Gary- you could always go in the original F/A uniform. Of course, you'd probably need the hotpants modified a bit but hey I know those go-go boots would look amazing. If that's not feasible then perhaps you should go as Dallas-Baltimore through-ticketed passenger. Carry around a ticket that says DAL-BWI on it!!!

One thing I find interesting is the American traveling public seems to forget that flight attendants are safety professionals and quite often do not respect us and the rules for air travel. The terror plot in England was a reminder...we're not out of this yet, and I noticed that day that the passengers were on their best behavior. Don't forget, we're there for your safety not just to serve you a Coke and peanuts. Stow that purse under the seat so your feet don't get caught in the strap if you have to get off the airplane in a hurry. If you're in the forward bulkhead...please don't complain about having to put your items up above. Its above your head and we'll gladly get it down for you after we get to a safe altitude. We're looking out for you! 😄
