Southwest is lying about this situation, and Linda totally impeaches herself here. Its pretty clear she called Kevin in order to make a pretense for this dishonest "We made up" blog post.

It is unfortunate that Southwest is still lying about this situation.
And as anyone who listened to Kevin's podcast knows, a woman who shared the later flight with him was VERBALLY ABUSED by a southwest employee about her weight.
She wasn't asked to leave, but she was taken aside and in an attempt to humiliate her, told she should buy a second seat.
It happens that the seat between her and Kevin was already bought and paid for by Kevin, so if she had bought a second seat, that seat would have been sold TWICE.
She wasn't taken off of the plane, so the only reason to take her aside like that was to humiliate her.
Southwest, you are still LYING about this situation, and you have a serious problem here.
It will never change until you own up.
I think you figure you're ok because most people are skinny and so many of them say "kevin should lose weight" Because they BELIEVED YOUR LIES YESTERDAY.
Well, when you train your employees to be abusive to passengers, it may start with weight but it never ends there.
You've had 48 hours to act like a grown up organization and be honest about this situation. You've done nothing but continually spread misinformation and that is simply unacceptable.
25 year customer of yours, no more.

You know, an actual apology would be one where you owned up to making a mistake, maybe explained why the error was made and how it was an error and apologised.
Here you "apologize" then go on to claim you didn't do anything wrong. How is that an apology?
Further, its obvious you're lying because he flew on a later flight. Did he suddenly become "safe" in the interim?
The really amazing thing is, that on this later flight-- where he had bought two seats-- the woman sitting on his row with an empty seat between him was taken aside and snidely told she should have bought two tickets. Well, KS had already bought the empty seat.
When did you guys start hiring snotty assholes as customer service?
Oh, and Christi Day has GOT to go. Put her in a position commensurate with her skills. You get zero credit for hiring a kid to watch twitter and write snide blog posts. Worse, everything she says discredits YOUR brand.

BTW, this blog post is exactly the kind of generic, bland, bullshit we have all come to expect from the big airlines like Northwest, Delta and United.
Southwest USED to be different.
Inconsistent, Arbitrary and Customer Hostile? Just another bloated american airline that needs to go under.

I'm really amazed to see SWA tell really obvious and blatent lies in an insulting blog response. This is not the customer focused company it used to be.
First off, the title. "Not so silent bob"- kinda insulting and pretty flippant. This combined with the corporate speak nonsense in the post tell us that you don't take this issue seriously at all.
Secondly, I'm profoundly insulted that you would stoop to the level of telling blatant lies about this situation to try and make it sound reasonable.
You did not stop Kevin Smith for "comfort or safety" on the flight out, so obviously the claim that this was the reason here is a lie.
Further, claiming this has been the policy for 25 years is not a justification. Its only a statement that I should have started boycotting you earlier. And, again, if its been policy for 25 years, how is it that Kevin Smith and my husband (who's about the same size) have been flying with you for a couple decades without problem?
A random refusal of service is not a policy.
Don't lie to, or about your customers. IF there was a safety issue here, you could name it. But its obvious there wasn't.
That you would choose to lie about this is unexcusable.
The ONLY acceptable response here is to make a consistent policy or get rid of this randomly applied prejudice against fat people.
I know offering decent sized seats is out of the question.
